He was a good sheriff for quite a while. I accepted a lot of things he did that were mostly public relations, such as seeing his chain gang out there picking up trash from a vacant plot of land. Seemed to me they weren't accomplishing much more than putting on a show for us passing motorist/voters. I really like how he went after animal abusers but not so much seeing him setting up for a book signing as I was exiting our local Walmart one Sunday.

He had a good run but it's well past time for him to ride into the sunset.
