Gee, you think? I am SHOCKED, I tell you, just, SHOCKED! Let's see, I had several college friends from places like Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, and Brazil; they sure looked white to me! Then, there's a couple of old army buddies from Puerto Rico; I could have sworn they were white too. Then there's a Mexican friend of mine (and I'm sure he was born there, because he's a naturalized citizen); I think he'd be pretty surprised if someone suggested he's not white, because his hair sure is blonde! Now what is this crap about Hispanic or Latino being "another race"? Then there's this guy I know from Dominica; he sure looks black to me; he considers himself black; I think he might be surprised to hear he's not. Funny; I thought Latino was a linguistic/cultural grouping, not a race, until PC came along; don't suppose I might have been right?

So very true!!

You see, Gadfly... maybe, just maybe, the latinos "listing themselves as whites" are not disgusting liars, vile deceivers trying to trick the american nation into believing they are whites.

Maybe the vast majority of those who did list themselves as whites did so because this is what they are!! White people born in Latin America and their descendants!!

There are millions of white hispanics and their children living in America.

This whole crap (hispanics, latinos = non-whites) was started or at least reinforced by the US Census that gave a racial connotation to the words hispanic, latino (reflecting the false but prevalent idea of that time that white race = germanic peoples) and sadly this racialist definition still finds itself deeply embedded in the american psyche.

To give you an idea of the stupidity behind this concept.

São Paulo, Buenos Aires and Montevideo alone have more than 6 million italians just like the huge italian communities of New York, Boston, etc. According to the ambiguous classification used by the US census until recently, italian americans are white while italian brazilians, italian uruguayans etc... are not. I rest my case.

Most Turks are white but because of Turkey's middle eastern socio-cultural environment Turks are wrongly excluded from the "white club".

Similarly, white hispanics are not considered whites in America (a blatant, overt contradiction in terms ) because they come from a Latin American socio-cultural environment.

The result of allowing the concept of culture to interfere with racial classification is that many people like Unkotare conclude that the whole idea of race is pointless.

The basis is BLOOD. Everything else flows from that. Turks I've seen are passably white, but all they have to do to stay out of the white club is soak themselves in non-white culture like language, names, religion, etc. If they do that, why would they want to be "white"?

Are you genetically white? And do you want to be on our team? If so, you're white.

If not, you have made your choice.

It depends on a series of questions I don't have a definitive answer to.

For example:

Does Haiti's racial homogeneity have anything to do with that country being the mother of all shitholes on planet Earth?

If it does I would argue America should do everything in her power to avoid any demographic scenario that even remotely resembles a black majority.
