History will tell you that things were pretty bad before and during the Great Depression. Bootleggers and bank robbers got all the publicity but socialists were out in numbers and so were anarchists. The Founding Fathers planned for such times and gave us free elections every two years for congress people, every four years for the president and every 6 years to throw the rascals out of the senate. I concede that times are uniquely tough when the media we used to trust to keep an eye on government misdeeds has become the propaganda arm of a political party but Americans are still smart enough to understand that they can throw the rascals out. In a sense yes. Americans, America, our society and conservatives and decent Christian citizens are losing though because we are more passive at this point.

Our country has been transformed more in the past 2 years than it has in the past 2 decades and that is soley due to conservatives, christians and the American middle class because we let it happen. Sure we complain online or to eachother but that's all. We're the ones with the real power in this country but we won't form together to exercise it because we're too lazy, disorganized and convinced we don't have any power.

The only ones who have a concentrated effort to changes things are the "bad guys" so to speak.

Yes, civil war has to actually be a war. It's a definition thing. If people aren't warring, it's not war.

But I agree the left and right hate each other ---- it's a constant source of punditry these days, I don't see how anyone can miss it!

And the main thing I've seen is that we are not voting for or against specific candidates: we are voting against the hated Other. We are voting against the people who call us names (like Deplorables and worse) and express so much hatred against us. Whomever they like, we'll vote down. Whomever they hate and fear, we'll vote for.
