Zone1 Are Religions Moral???

Seems to me like the Dems are proponents of personal freedom and choice.
Nope....
Actually malinformation (information given with the intent to harm the decision maker and benefit others)....what appears to be "personal freedom and choice" has been a prescription for loneliness, misery, pain, and death.

Statistics on most of these subjects has proven to be that the malinformation has destroyed a significant portion of our population. What has been labeled as "freedom and Choices" has caused significant damage to people in just about every metric used for success except for early death.

Care to try to prove me wrong?

What's the life expectancy for homosexuals?
What's the chance that homosexuals have a DEADLY STD?
How about L.E. for childless women?
How about just the sanity levels for childless women?
Sanity for childless women who have had abortions?

How about the adopted and biological children of homosexual couples?
Wanna discuss their statistics? Those ones are truly disgusting.....and obviously being an orphan wasn't bad enough....now we let the homosexuals do even more trauma and brainwashing that really does a number on them so they will abuse themselves.

With AI everywhere....those statistics are readily available.

I'm not a journalist. I've never claimed to be so. I am merely an observer commenting on what I see going on in the world around me.
Are you a practicing Christian? Since you are your own source, perhaps it would be best to begin with, "It is my opinion....based on _________________ ."

Otherwise, why not present the religion/faith you practice, instead of telling people who practice Christianity and know Christianity what they "really" believe based on your opinions? If you are going to tell practicing Christians what their faith "really" is, you had better have facts, not just a personal opinion.

I'm almost pretty certain that people's sexual appetites and perversions - especially one's based upon domination and submission - aren't because of any book, holy or otherwise.

Based on your comment above, I'm guessing you've never read any of the Talmud. Have you read much of Genesis, Deuteronomy and Samuel?
My comment above is based upon reality and science. You appear to be a hammer looking for a nail. Feel free to live in an alternate reality where the Talmud is responsible for people's sexual appetites and perversions. I'll live in the reality that says that people's sexual appetites and perversions are driven by primitive impulses.

I was born and raised Catholic. Serving Mass from 1955 until 1969. 16 years catholic education including Jesuits. Lost my religion about 1990. I strive to live according to what Jesus said. Also greatly admire the Buddhist philosophy.

Opinions are like elbows mate. We all have at least 1. I distinguish between opinions formed by facts and opinions formed by propaganda and dogma.

By not answering whether you've read the Talmud, I conclude you have not.

Was Paul lying? Because it seems to me if you believe Paul was lying then it makes no sense for you to strive to live your life accordingly to what Jesus said.

Because it's irrelevant. Like I said before... Feel free to live in an alternate reality where the Talmud is responsible for people's sexual appetites and perversions. I'll live in the reality that says that people's sexual appetites and perversions are driven by primitive impulses.

You have a very narrow mind and jump to conclusions quickly. I am a huge fan of Corinthians and other writings of Paul.

Also a big fan of Thomas Aquinas, especially his observation that "If you can live amidst injustice without anger, you are immoral". I try to incorporate that into the modern day WWJD question. Do you think Jesus would approve of the genocide being done by the Zionists? Would he approve of their claims to racial superiority?

Most of today's US "Christians" will dodge those questions in their bloodlust against the Palestinians. Hegseth, Trump, Cruz and others..

That's all well and good but was Paul lying?

I agree but that applies equally to Jesus in the desert and Moses on the mountain with the burning bush. All must be accepted on faith.
Not so for Jesus. We have the credible testimony of Paul and historical evidence. Not to mention we can put into practice his commands and see the results for ourself.

A rather round-about way of asking for the thread’s operative definition of “moral.”

But it was provided in the OP.

No it wasn't a round-about method.

The OP asked 'Are Religions Moral'.

What standard or principle are you going to use to judge a certain religion. The Bible says homosexuality is an abomination. The U.S. government says otherwise. What principle or standard is the U.S. government, that protects and encourages and endorses homosexuality and transexuals, going to use to judge the Christian faith which is based upon the Bible?

In other words, the principle or standard used by the U.S. government, and many in America is not the same used by those who are Christian and believe the Bible.

Are churches immoral because they preach the Bible? Is the U.S. government immoral because it allows and encourages homosexuality and transexuals?

The question of morality is elusive as I said. For it to apply you must have a set of laws agreed upon defining what is morality. Then it is not a question of morality, just a question of whose breaking the law.

The bible also says in the OT/Torah, Genesis, Deuteronomy and Samuel that the descendants of Abraham must not let any living thing survive of the Amalek. Or to destroy every nation and do not show them mercy.

Is that moral?

It's a Jewish embellishment because they believed God was on their side. God didn't order it. There was nothing supernatural about it. This was Jewish men crafting a narrative around an historical event to teach lessons about the covenant, obedience and justice because that's how they passed on information and knowledge back then through these stories which could be told and passed down. These stories blend history and moral lessons together.

People like you use these accounts to dismiss God's true supernatural act which was sending Jesus Christ.

Holy books are not the word of god, they are the words of men. Men with a vested interest in controlling the masses.

I hear that argument a lot. It's a really dumb argument. It's basically a conspiracy theory built upon supposition. There's no teeth in it. It makes me chuckle every time I hear someone make that argument.

Organized religion is a theory based on faith, dogma and superstition.

Organized religion isn't a theory. It's a grouping of individuals. Through out history mankind has naturally and instinctively formed groups. There's nothing nefarious about it. It's natural. It's no more different than any other grouping of men and women.
