Is this self isolation always a good idea? Has anyone thought this through? Most apartments buildings are germ factories. Go outside and stay six feet apart...

But has anyone asked the question, what of high-density apartment buildings, almost all of which rely on central air conditioning and ventilation systems to recirculate air throughout the building? Only hospital and scientific clean rooms provide room-sealing and technology to prevent air from circulating from one room into another. In most modern and not-so-modern high-density, multi-family structures, some level of air circulation from both inside and outside air is part of the plan.

This means some air moves between apartment units, along with whatever is in that air... MORE Are Apartment Dwellers at Higher Risk from Corona by Staying Inside 24/7 Breathing Recirculated Air from Units?

I'm thinking the more humidity there is in the air the longer the virus can live without a host...

If they aren't sick then the greatest risk is introducing a sick person to the household. Ventilation systems in apartments aren't usually shared between units.

Positive pressure back to a main unit........recirc and filtered from there......but most filters don't stop the small microbe of coronavirus.............so contamindated air can come back.

Google the Amoy apartments and the studies there........how it traveled from the bathroom drains.......via negative pressure up to other apartments.....via the exhaust fan.........and how it moved building to building.

Who cares? Is it not for progress and to keep the captains of capital satisfied?

Been my argument from the get-go. These people live in giant incubators.
But don’t tell them because I don’t want them escaping out here to what they obnoxiously refer to as ‘flyover country’ and ruin it for us.
Right. Fly over country is the seat of capitalist power. Indispensable. See Appalachia. Michigan. Pennsylvania. Ohio. Mississippi.

The virus is only "airborne" in that it comes from the cough or sneeze of an infected person. It mostly comes when you touch your face after you have touched something infected. Even the article is mostly talking about pollutants and conditions such as Legionnaire's Disease. It seems very, very unlikely that someone would be infected with COVID by recirculated air going from apt to apt. I simply don't know how the virus would survive that trip.

What do they call you back at home in China?

Problem is, there are thousands of people living in the same building, touching the same bannisters and elevator buttons, etc.
Their domicile is exactly what the state guidelines have been telling us to avoid. They are the equivalent of an open school, a gathering of exponentially way more than ten.

Sure but it's the touching that's the problem. The recirculated air isn't great but it's never been great if you ask me, a bunch of people living crammed up in high rise apts does not seem like a great living situation to me. But that doesn't change with COVID, and is not really how COVID is spread.
