The U.S. Embassy in Beijing said it has asked China's foreign ministry and a phalanx of Tianjin politicians and agencies for help and the reasons for Hu's travel ban to no result. There are other cases like Hu's, the embassy said, without specifying how many.
An acclaimed inventor of catalysts — chemical agents that speed up or slow reactions — for automobile catalytic converters, Hu has nine U.S. patents to his name and dozens more in Europe and elsewhere. He spent 20 years abroad doing research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and working for multinationals such as Engelhard Corp. in New Jersey. Among his breakthroughs: a catalyst that gives sports utility vehicles pollution controls comparable to sedans.
He left that in 2004 to return to his native China along with his family and grab opportunities in a rocketing Chinese auto market that was short of experienced innovators.

Reeling in Rejection: China Blocks Coke's Juice Company Acquisition

Observers abroad, including heavyweight publications such as the Wall Street Journal and The Economist, lambasted the Chinese for practising protectionism even as Premier Wen Jiabo has been criticizing the U.S. and others for doing the same in response to the economic crisis. Critics also note that the rejection comes at a time when the Chinese government is itself busily encouraging domestic consolidation in various markets.

Still, once the initial furor in the foreign press died down, the reaction of business turned out to be considerably more muted than expected.

China demands foreign automakers tech secrets in exchange for market access

Foreign investors are still not allowed to buy Chinese companies as full shareholders.

Legal conditions for foreign investors and companies in China are still unsafe

How long before they decide the companies that moved there now belong to them? This is something America should never have to go to war over. Business knew. Republicans knew. Americans shouldn't die for "business". Not again. Not after Iraq.

And they live in dorms and "roof dive".

It never amazes me the number of Republicans who see China as a "model" we can learn from.
The only thing worth learning is the "Triple Helix" of "Government, Business and Universities" working together. Which is odd since Republicans see Government as a monster, and education as "overrated". Which leaves big business, which, obviously, is "holy".

Why do you want to go to war with China?

Oh come on. Chevy ALREADY agreed to give up the tech secrets to get the per car subsidy China was offering on the Volt. These little gems are so misleading it defies description. Good thing they have no effect. Companies are moving to China at a record pace for the opportunities China offers AND China is having no problem at all buying up America as fast as it can.

If the suicides in Chinese factories continue, they will surely need our uneducated illiterates as replacements. Fortunately the United States is capable of importing suitable candidates by the thousands.
