It just doesn't get any better than this, a general being pressured by the White house to state that something is safe, yet isn't and would interfer with GPS systems. Now here's a thought how would this system, if it can interfer with a military system, interfer with commercial airplanes??

And then there's the accusation this week by The Daily Beast that the administration pressured a military officer to alter his testimony before Congress about the wireless company, LightSquared, so that it was more in line with the White House’s political policy on broadband expansion. There has been a steady stream of criticism from the Department of Defense that the company’s technology could interfere with its Global Positioning Systems (GPS).

Both companies have executives who have given large amounts of money to Obama in recent years -- although LightSquared pointed out that its top executives have given to members of both parties.

How long is the mainstream media going to ignore their responsibility to report the bad things in the administration? As long as the majority of the media continues to prop up or ignore the criminal behavior it will continue.

Balancing three scandals in these months before the election will be quite a dance for Obama. I hope he has town halls where people can ask questions and we hear more than just speeches.

Not a chance though.

I already started a thread on LightSquare yesterday.

Fact is, ABC news is the one who broke the Solyndra scandal, obtained the E-mails, and is going after Obama and the administration hard on the issue.....It's good to see a left wing media entity taking this inept President on. Particularly because they are not candy coating what appears may have happened.

You actually missed the interesting part of this one. Obama is personal friends with the top executives at LightSquared, used to own a stake in it, and has many people associated with the company in his administration.

  • Several major Democratic campaign contributors and longtime Obama supporters have held investments in the company and its affiliates during its tangled decade of existence. They include Obama's good friend and political donor Donald Gips, his former White House personnel chief, who now serves as U.S. ambassador to South Africa. Records show that Gips maintained an interest, worth as much as $500,000, as the FCC was weighing LightSquared's request.
  • Obama himself was an early investor and came to the presidency a firm believer in expanding broadband. He remains close to other early investors, like Gips and investment manager George W. Haywood, inviting some to luxe social events at the White House and more intimate gatherings like a night of poker and beer.
  • Obama installed one of his biggest fundraisers, Julius Genachowski, a campaign "bundler" and broadband cheerleader, as chairman of the FCC, whose staff granted LightSquared a special waiver to operate.
  • LightSquared's current majority owner, hedge fund manager Philip Falcone, made large donations to the Democratic Party while his broadband request was pending before the FCC. He and LightSquared executives met with White House officials. Neither Falcone nor the White House would comment on what was discussed.
  • LightSquared employs lobbying firms that wield formidable Democratic firepower: Ed Rendell, former governor of Pennsylvania and onetime chair of the Democratic National Committee, as well as the firm of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt.
  • Jeffrey J. Carlisle, the company's vice president for regulatory affairs, served with Genachowski and Gips on Obama's transition team.
LightSquared insists it has found a way for its technology to coexist with GPS systems. But as lawmakers and technology experts wrestle over the conflicting claims, some in Congress suspect the FCC of favoritism in its haste to decide the matter.
"It is a textbook example of Washington at work," Ken Boehm , the chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center, told iWatch News . The conservative public interest group is pressing Congress to investigate.
Sen. Charles Grassley , R-Iowa, said he has been trying, without success, to get the FCC to disclose basic information about LightSquared's investors and their relationships to the White House. The agency's "lack of transparency," he says, has raised his suspicions.
"Are there ties between the investors and the administration that might lead to the perception that the administration is biased toward approval?" Grassley said in a statement to iWatch News. " In the absence of transparency, the perception might be that the FCC is rushing the public's business to help a friend in need, regardless of the consequences for the public and the economy."

The Center for Public Integrity: Politically-connected LightSquared wins approval for wireless Internet plan despite GPS disruption concerns

Just a tip, always use HuffPo as a reference when you want to poke at Obama, it drives the Obamazombies crazy because they cannot dismiss it outright as a right wing blog secretly run by Fox News and owned by the Koch brothers.

well looks like the tests are in- LightNOT QUITE squared is doing exactly what that general last year said it would;

Falcone’s LightSquared Said to Disrupt 75% of GPS in Tests
December 09, 2011, 5:55 PM EST

Philip Falcone’s proposed LightSquared Inc. wireless service caused interference to 75 percent of global-positioning system receivers examined in a U.S. government test, according to a draft summary of results.

The results from testing conducted Oct. 31 to Nov. 4 show that “millions of fielded GPS units are not compatible” with the planned nationwide wholesale service, according to the draft seen by Bloomberg News.

“LightSquared signals caused harmful interference to majority of GPS receivers tested,” according to the draft prepared for a meeting next week of U.S. officials reviewing the LightSquared proposal. “No additional testing is required to confirm harmful interference exists.”

LightSquared, backed by $3 billion from Falcone’s Harbinger Capital Partners hedge fund, faces challenges from makers of global-positioning system devices who say the service will disrupt navigation by cars, boats, tractors and planes. U.S. regulators are withholding approval as they check on claims of interference.

and lest we forget as QW detailed, Philip Falcone is a big donor to the Democratic Party, and he has billions of dollars at stake in LightSquared’s approval. Also, Obama himself was an investor in LightSquared at one point, as were or are a number of his associates.

Keating 5 was a scandal.

K Street is a scandal.

This? Not so much. Since Obama didn't make money off it and neither did his friends, it's more like what Romney said. Some businesses are successful, others are not.

With all the scandal talk, you guys act like you want him to be a Republican.

And GE and Siga and so on and so on. Corrupt cronyism is running wild in this Admnistration. Barack Obama is likely the most Corporate-Owned and controlled President we've ever had. Everyone should check out the movie 'The Obama Deception.' His poor followers have been duped so badly.
