1. To be fair, they imposed it on you when you were too young and innocent to know better.....
Mandated government schooling is no longer meant to do what was once its mission.
Earlier American presidents, Republicans and Democrats alike, agreed on two basic goals: teach the newcomers English and make them Americans. The clear aim was to strengthen our national identity--to reinforce the unum in e pluribus unum--by assimilating the new arrivals into American civilization. http://www.aei.org/article/society-and-culture/anti-americanization/
Today, government school has a very different mission......but is highly successful at it: it turns out Leftists.

2. Today's birthday boy is fine example of what that mission is.

Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, (born August 1, 1744, Bazentin-le-Petit, Picardy, France—died December 18, 1829, Paris), pioneering French biologist who is best known for his idea that acquired characters are inheritable, an idea known as Lamarckism, which is controverted by modern genetics and evolutionary theory.

You learned that giraffes had long necks because generations extended them to reach higher food sources.
Bogus.

3. If you understand modern science, you know that acquired characteristics are not passed on.....
Weismann, before 1900, proved that use and disuse was false: “In the experiment, Weismann cut off the tails of 901 mice and their offspring for five generations. If acquired characteristics were heritable, Weismann reasoned, the experimental mice should eventually produce offspring with no tails.”
.
They had the same length tails as the original mice.

4. And yet, Darwin relied on the use and disuse as the mechanism for his false theory of evolution....
“Darwin’s view of heredity was quite different. He believed that every cell in an organism produces “gemmules” that transmit characteristics to the next generation in a blending process he called “pangenesis.” The advantage of Darwin’s view was that gemmules could be changed by external conditions, or by use and disuse, and thus account for evolutionary change. The disadvantage of Dar- win’s view was that it was false.” Charles Darwin, The Variation of Animals and Plants under Domestication ,Chapter XXVII. Charles Darwin, On the Origin of Species, Sixth Edition, ChapterV. See also Chapters I and VI. Bowler, Evolution: The History of an Idea, 171, 190,
210, 250–52. (comment by Jonathan Wells)

Darwin said “every cell in an organism produces “gemmules” that transmit characteristics to the next generation …. gemmules could be changed by external conditions, or by use and disuse, and thus account for evolutionary change.”

5.Yet, true to their mission, government school imposes Darwinian evolution on untrained minds as though it was a proven fact.

You should ask yourself why.

The claim that new immigrants instantly embraced English is a myth

Most major cities had immigrant enclaves........Little Italy, Chinatown, Germantown, Swedesboro

Areas where immigrants maintained their culture and the native language was spoken. Many immigrants slowly picked up English and it was the second generation that embraced our culture

Takes three generations....

Crock of shit.
Immigrants came here with their children, waved the American flag, had their children teach them English, and were proud to gain their citizenship. They wanted to be Americans, not Italian Americans, or German Americans. It took one generation. That didn't mean they quit socializing with others who left their countries for the American dream.
They are nothing like the immigrants sneaking in to our country now. They want to be Somalians, living in America. Hondurans, living in America, Mexicans living in America.

Nonsense

Immigrants formed clubs where the met with other immigrants of the same origin, spoke the native language and instilled the culture of the home country into their children

Not a single one of those prior waves of immigrants demanded official government documents in their preferred language, or demanded stores provide clerks speaking their language or that it be taught in schools. Or any of the other nonsense these self believed overlords demand.

Thank Jimma Da Carter & congress for creating the Department Of Education.

“In November 1995, when the federal government shut down over a budget crisis, 89.4 percent of the department’s employees were deemed ‘nonessential’ and sent home.”

Much better sans vulgarity.

Still stupid....but better.

My Dad, when he was still alive, used to write letters to local newspapers, demanding that American be our official language. Not “English,” mind you ... only “American.” He was old then, and lived to be 92, so we all tolerated this little obsession of his.

He served in WWII as a co-pilot and then a full pilot flying C-46 cargo planes, mostly from India to China. In Egypt, India and Burma he ran into plenty of Englishmen, and I don’t think he liked them much. Thought those British “Empire” types were a bit “stuck up.” I mean he wasn’t prejudiced or anything. He knew they were allies. I think he mostly blamed Great Britain for miseducating all those Indians, whose “English” was really bad — in my Dad’s opinion anyway.

Of course my father always spoke with a New York accent himself, which may have been part of the problem. He was a country boy from upstate New York who had managed to learn to fly working at a small airport near home, but soon moved to the city and married a girl from ... Brooklyn!

Long live New Yawkers!

P.S. My whole family, parents, siblings, children, were all educated in public schools. Didn’t do us a bit of harm ... at least in my opinion.

P.P.S. Of course a good family is important. You know, my parents spent hard earned money for a “Worldbook Encyclopedia” for us kids to use at home. Dad taught us about planes and flying and math, a bit of science too. Learning about fossils and dinosaurs was cool. Mom made sure we did our homework. If anybody tried to push any “Creationist” shit, my Dad would have thrown a fit. Even at 92!

God bless your dad, and his geographic choice in a wife.

One would have hoped his scion has more of an education.....in which case said scion would probably be aware of the fact that one can only write letters while alive.

But, it did produce a chuckle......too bad you didn't intend it that way.

Actually, my Dad is still alive ... in my memory. You responded before my last P.P.S., so I will repeat it, though I doubt that fossilized bird-brain of yours, or your dead heart, will appreciate it, or anything an intelligent and rational human being might say to you...

See, this is the result of you leaving school in the third grade, and joining the circus.

It's time you learned how to address your betters.

You're not speaking to your family here.

Most of my family are immigrants. And what you are saying is a load of crap.

My great-great grandparents moved here from Norway, and they never learned English beyond a few words. They moved to an area in the Dakotas that had a large Norwegian community, and never had to learn English. My great-grandparents were the first to grow up with a useful ability, but even then they spoke with a strong accent all their lives.

Following another branch who came from Germany in the 1700's, it was the exact same thing. First immigrants (a Lutheran Minister) came to build a church that was for other German immigrants. All records (including newspaper accounts) of this ministry said they and the services were in German.

My wife and her family moved here from Argentina in 1979. My wife and her younger sister learned English, but her parents never did. Her mom lived here most of her life, and never learned the language.

Hell, according to family history, my great-grandfather is the first of his family to learn more than a few words and phrases in English. And his family had been here a hell of a lot longer than even the English had been here.
