On his hospital bed last week, 16-year-old Abid Tanoli sat listless and alone, half of his body covered by burns that all but destroyed both his eyes and left his face horribly disfigured.

The teenager talked, with difficulty, of how his life had been destroyed since the fateful day in June 2002 when he refused to have sex with his teacher at a religious school in Pakistan.

The boy was horrifically injured in an acid attack after he rebuffed the Muslim cleric's sexual advances. Now, he has alarmed Pakistan's powerful religious establishment by pressing charges against his alleged assailants.

I really dread to think what must go on in some of the "religious schools" in Pakistan. The mullah's have absolute power on what goes on and IMO some of them can be utterly sick bastards.

No controls are in place and no checks are carried out. Again IMO 99.99% of anything untoward is brushed under the carpet and the SOB's carry on as usual. In most cases the victim gets accused of telling total lies and fabricating the whole thing.

As always religious text is open to numerous interpretations but in this particular case extremely few Muslims would accept the one you are putting forward.

I’m the first one to admit that Islam has major major problems to resolve but promoting or even condoning paedophilia is not one of them. It is abhorrent to the average Muslim just as much as it is to individuals of any other faith.

I am putting forward nothing more than the Islamic verses from Qur'an as interpreted by Muslims. Have you any other interpretation for these verses?

Comment: The statistics show that the prophet’s marriage to Aisha at her young age was an exception and not a norm of his other marriages. Furthermore ‘a pedophile’s main mode of sexual satisfaction is with prepubescent girls’, which is contradictory to the 91% of prophet’s marriage to women 17 years and over. An unbiased examination of Prophet’s life and his marriages to his wives blatantly rejects the notion of his lifestyle fitting that of a pedophile. All his brides were aged widows (except Aisha and Marium).

Moreover, according to the criteria in the references cited above in ‘Synopsis of Psychiatry’, a vast majority of pedophiles possess a history of exhibitionism, voyeurism, or rape. Again, there is no single reference from either religious or secular sources that the noble Prophet ever indulged in such sadistic behavior (God forbid). This truth is observed and accepted by both Muslims and unbiased non-Muslims scholars.

you forgot to mention sahih muslim book 8 chapter 22 mohammad did approve of rape for his followers so you are lying.as far as pedophilia what about the hadith where he asks one of his followers why he didn't marry a young girl so he could play with her and then he said they needed to wait till sundown so the women would have time to shave there pubic hair..you also point to the fact since he just did it once(married but we don't know for sure how many others outside of marriage he had sex with)doesn't make it right.

Sabir doesn't think that all of Islam believes in things not written in Qur'an and even then those things can be interpreted to say something not intended by the prophet Muhammad.

The world of Islam were converted to this religion by the threat of death by the followers of Muhammad.

They are the ones who believe in sacrificing their own children to their god by throwing them into fire.
