The issue is whether the path exists for anyone willing to take it. The answer is yes it is. Now is that path harder for some than others? Of couse it is, but that has far more to do with your family situation, did your parents choose that path, who you choose as your friends, etc than it does with the color of your skin. No one is debating that if you're born into wealth that your life path is easier than if you're born into poverty. That's life not institutional racism.

1. Reparations for something that happened a long time ago, to people who didn't go through any of that, by people who are already dead, isn't going to make what happened any better. Who's paying? Again, is the black guy who emigrated to the US last week on the hook to help pay for the reparations to the ancestors of slaves, by people he's not related to? His ancestors werent even in the same hemisphere as the US when slavery existed. We talk about the US Government like it's some separate entity from the citizenry like it has it's private bank account and is generating wealth on it's own. Maybe that's a big part of the problem, far too many people see themselves as not part of the system.
