Chernobyl

A story about a town that one can ride through with no stoplights, no police and no danger of hitting any living thing.

Young girl travels to Chernobyl on her motorcycle - lots of photos...

I really think nuclear power should be TERMINATED,its much too dangerous as this and what happend recently in Japan demonstrates..

NUCLEAR IS TOO DANGEROUS!!

Is nuclear power really safe?

Not if you're the insurance company considering writing a policy for it, no.

Now if it was as safe as some of you imagine it to be, wouldn't insurance companies happily write a policy to cover that nuclear power plant against catastropic meltdown?

The answer, FYI, is Yes, IF nuclear power was as safe as some claim, every insurance company would be happy to write that policy.

They won't.

They know something about risk assessment. Risk assessment is, after all, what they DO.

They know far more about risk than any of you folks apparently do.

They are not interested in covering nuclear power plants against catastrophy.

Minor incidents?

Yeah they'll cover those up to an amount as legislated by the government. I think the amount is TOPS about 300 million.

But total meltdown?

Nope.
They won't INSURE the plant against that eventuality.
