It isn't about cultural and language ties, it's about MONEY. Britain just screwed themselves. The US is far more interested in signing a new trade deal with the EU because they represent a much larger market for US good and services than Britain. They will now have to negotiated trade deals with 52 different countries.

Also note that Britain promotes membership in the British Commonwealth as being "stronger together". A little hypocritical don't you think?
