On February 29, 2020 President Trump announced a peace agreement with the Taliban that would end May 1, 2021. American forces were to be completely gone from the country by then. That was 18 months ago. Americans who were there on orders have been evacuated, other than the soldiers securing the airport there now. Americans who are still there chose voluntarily to remain these entire 18 months. We should do everything in our power to get them out, short of sending even a single soldier to die to get them out.

I suspect we will get most of them out, but the choice to gamble their lives was their own, not ours or our government's.
