In chatting with some of my right wing-leaning friends, some actually like or even admire Bernie Sanders.

So, what is it that keeps some republicans from translating that admiration into votes?

First and foremost, I've been told, is this somewhat misleading notion that the label of "democratic socialist" is an anathema in our culture....that we've been conditioned to presume that socialism equal communism and that capitalism would be wrecked by any social-leaning policies.....Yet, our military is a perfect example of a "socialist structure" and both social security and Medicare are the very definition of socialism. After all, many of our closest and well-governed allies function in a socialistic system.

The second, "problem" for backing Sanders is his age....Yet, he has a very good report on his health status, and seems as spry as virtually all other candidates. Our life span has considerably gotten longer, and even if Sanders were to serve only one term, his policies would set a standard that under a social democrat administration, many good factors....both social and economic.....could be improved.

So, what is the problem?

Too funny. Of course you have right-leaning friends who support Sanders. After all, conservatism is based upon socialism. Everyone knows that.

I've seen this like for Sander's as well. He is the one that will walk into the oval office while everyone else is bickering.

And he isn't a socialist. He does not advocate nationalizing industry or doing away with capitalism. All he's interested in is making sure all people have health care and a college education so we can compete on the international stage.

trump is a fascist, and we certainly don't need that.

If your reading comprehension would approach the comprehension of a 7 year old, you too would understand that my friends stated that they like or even admire Sanders, but such does not mean "support".....
Hard to find a smart right winger on this forum, isn't it?

Then why does he refer to himself as a socialist? Are you implying that ole Bernie is less than honest?

You are 'challenged' aren't you.

What is defined as a socialist and what someone calls themself are two different things.

Trump calls himself sane. Not true either.

Same here. I have a friend, life-long registered Republican, who told me he was thinking of voting for Sanders. He's disgusted with his party. He's one of the few righties you can actually sit down and have a conversation with, too.

No, he refers to himself as a "democratic socialist" ....and there IS a difference...Most likely Sanders is counting on smarter voters to know the difference.

Just answer the question, if he's not a socialist, why does he refer to himself as a socialist? is he a liar? does he not understand what a socialist is? Or perhaps Bernie understands his own ideology better than you do and you're just a moron that doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

Personally I'll go with option C.

I don't care what he calls himself, he makes sense. Here's the title of his homepage on his website:

"Nobody who works 40 hours a week should be living in poverty."

Realize if that is someone's situation, which it is if you work for Walmart, then who picks up the tab and fills in the gaps? Taxpayers.

So pay now or pay later. But it's probably cheaper to pay now. Preventing something is always cheaper than trying to fix it later.

Trillion$ in free shit. What's not to like, eh comrade?

Exactly! Zero hours a week in poverty is better. Because that will reduce welfare.

Not one conservative will vote for him, neither will the independents.

Assuming that's true, which is dubious, he wasn't a conservative. That's what's wrong with the party now, too many Rinos.

It's just that if you add up everything that Bernie has promised he will have the Government giving away...the cost is SO astronomical that you'd have to have either no math skills whatsoever or be as naive as they come to support someone who proposed what Sanders has.

I admire Sander's truthfulness in stating his positions...but he's got no clue what he's doing!

I don't care what he calls himself, he makes sense.

How nice for you, I'm sure Bernie really appreciates that, only thing left for you to do to complete your indoctrination is send him all your money and he'll send you a nice thank you note wrapped around a rubber cookie.
