amazing response to GOP Rep who said God opposes trans rights: "You used God to enslave my foreparents. You used God to segregate me in schools."

For more on Jefferson’s “religion” suggested reading is Seidel A, The Founding Myth: Why Christian Nationalism Is Un-American.

Actually, God was invoked to free the slaves.
Whitey was the first race to outlaw slavery, the others caught up decades later.
Some still haven't caught up.

No we're not.
We are

America was founded by Christians and is still largely christians today

thtas why so many career politicians pretend to be Christians
America was founded by Deists.

The signers of the Declaration of Independence were a profoundly intelligent, religious and ethically-minded group. Four of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were current or former full-time preachers, and many more were the sons of clergymen. Other professions held by signers include lawyers, merchants, doctors and educators. These individuals, too, were for the most part active churchgoers and many contributed significantly to their churches both with contributions as well as their service as lay leaders. The signers were members of religious denominations at a rate that was significantly higher than average for the American Colonies during the late 1700s.

It is spot on to reality, what was done to our people in this country for centuries was a crime.
Who says otherwise?

Racist like you.

slavery was wrong and thats why the practice was ended

Slavery was a crime against hum

It became obsolete with industrialization, too.

Still doesn't excuse the crimes that were committed.

No one is making excuses

it was a long time ago and we - meaning whites - owe you no apologies now

That is all you are doing, there are plenty of black folks STILL living today who came up during Jim Crow, those who have dealt with straight up racism and discrimination. You are a liar and the truth isn't in you.

don't use God as an excuse for your bigotry!

No...doofus...

The GOP said that God didn't want black humans as slaves........since the GOP was founded to end slavery, you dumb ass.....

It was the democrat party that claimed that God allowed them to keep blacks as slaves...it was the democrat party that started the Civil War to keep blacks as slaves..

It was the democrat party that kept blacks out of white schools to keep them from being educated...it is now the democrat party that keeps black students trapped in democrat party controlled schools that don't educate them....

It was the democrat party that kept blacks from voting through Poll Taxes and literacy tests...

you ignorant moron....

Putting roadblocks up to voting is a way to put people back into slavery.

If you find anybody that questions any of that, you let me know, and we will double team them. All that was absolutely true, and remained true until many generations ago when the parties swapped philosophies. The right became the white supremacists, and he left took on the battle for equal rights. My pledge has stood for years. If you will just point out any liberals opposed to equal rights for all, I won't vote for them.

All that can be done for those folks has already been done

You know Jim Crow was not nation-wide

it existed mostly in the South and did not apply to all black people in America

The same thinking is what is driving those trying to put up roadblocks to voting.

Only roadblocks against voting more than once, or voting from the grave, or any other form of cheating the democrat criminal mind can think of

Rep Greene makes a fair point about Christians invoking the Bible to justify slavery

but it was also Christians who envoked God to end slavery

the final stanza of Amazing Grace is a clear example of that

”As He died to make men holy, let us die to mske men free”
“His truth is marching on”

Yet the right still wants to deny rights to people who aren't like them.

Same could be said of Liberals. Look at Gun Rights.

Corrected, how were they corrected?
Slavery was ended

jim crow was ended

So the wrongs were ended and what was the restitution that was paid for those wrongdoings?

If I rob 5 banks and then just stop robbing banks the authority are not going to say, "he corrected his bank robbing." I am going to have to pay restitution on the 5 banks I robbed.
You have people robbing you everyday. The fiat currency we have is a big time robber. Not in just this nation but others and for centuries. Why don't you take them down? Go try. As for people paying restitution. Who must pay? The great society and political correctness and diversity and quotas with massive social programs has restituted the whole slavery history at least in this nation. But yeah...go to the source and get the people who print the money and own the central banks.
