An ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin has been found dead alongside members of his family in his multi-million dollar apartment in Moscow.
The body of former Kremlin official and Gazprombank vice-president Vladislav Avayev, 51, was found alongside his pregnant wife Yelena, 47, and younger daughter Maria, 13.
The bodies - all found with gunshot wounds - were discovered by the family's adult daughter when she entered the apartment after she couldn't get hold of them.
How the incident unfolded is yet to be determined by police but investigators said they are keeping an open mind to the 14th-floor massacre, carried out "with Avayev's pistol".
Avayev's adult daughter Anastasia told police the gun had been in her father's hand when she found his body, reports said.

Vladislav Avayev and Sergey Protosenya were found dead in their respective homes in Spain and Moscow.
The fact that these two similar events involving related powerful men came close together in time indicates high probability that the same cause and effect prevails in both cases. Would not discount the murder-suicide angle after they perhaps conferred about shared suspicions of pending doom. Question is, doom for them, or doom for everyone?
Is this a message to Putin, or a message to those around Putin?
Russian Mafia mobsters are a force to be reckoned with on their own. Who knows how many toes these guys have stepped on? Russians mobsters like Maoist Democrat Fed agencies don’t rely on courts to settle things like we do. Much as I’d like to blame Putin for everything there are a lot of wheels within wheels here.
