I applaud the CIA for including many different types in their ranks. I don't think our enemies are White and Western. If we want to understand our adversaries we need to have people who can relate to them. America is also changing and is more diverse than when I was a kid. If the CIA wants to recruit a new generation of Americans they need to speak their language. Sorry if that makes you uncomfortable.

Maybe Rachel Dratch? And as the video nears its finish, we can’t help but brace ourselves for the whole SNL cast to bust in and start high-fiving their comedic colleague.

But they never do. Because what we’re watching is not a joke — at least not in the intended sense. No, what we’re watching is an actual CIA recruitment video — one that implores its viewers to “command your space” and “be unapologetically you.”

To summarize the difference between Hollywood and reality let me compare and contrast.

In Hollywood we would have iron clad intelligence that the target is a bad guy.

In reality we had a few hints and figured he must be up to something.

In Hollywood three or four agents would snatch the guy quietly without leaving any clues.

In Reality the actual team consisted of at least 12 people who’s activities were able to be reconstructed with ease by the Italian Investigators years later.

In Hollywood they would either torture the guy or use drugs to get everything they needed in about six minutes.

In reality they kept the guy in an Egyptian Prison for five years and despite torturing him learned nothing. There was a simple reason. He wasn’t involved with any Terrorists.

In Hollywood we would change the names of the agents giving them new identities.

In Reality the agents used their real names and were identified by the Italians and charged with kidnapping.

A warrant was issued by the Italians for Lady. He realizing this showed the same exceptional intelligence that made him so successful and traveled internationally under his own passport.

In Hollywood the agents would be cut loose and disavowed or burned and denied.

In Reality when Lady was captured in Panama and held by the Panamanians for the warrant the US Government spirited him out of Panama on a US Government plane. This made the Government an accessory after the fact.

Despite the existence of an extradition treaty with the Italians we have never turned Lady over. Because you know. Treaties are just a piece of paper.

The CIA has had a long history of incompetence. Lady is in good company there.
