I see that a different poster posted an invalid link that claimed the above.

Intrigued, I found several articles discussing this.

Surprise Analysis: All 50 States Are Actually Shifting Toward Conservatism? | TheBlaze.com

The 2nd link has the table of how each state has shifted over the past 50 years. Personally, I'm a little skeptical about this considering how much the government has grown over the past few decades, but perhaps this means that Americans know what they want, but they're just not voting correctly.

EDIT: Fascinating thing: According to the chart, Hawaii was the most conservative state in 1964 based on that survey. Imagine that!

I'd have to see the analysis to believe that California is becoming more conservative.

I have a feeling that people vote against their beliefs and it's because they listen to what politicians say instead of actually taking time to look at what they do.

I think that is especially true with Obama, who can read the teleprompter like nobody's business. They hear politicians promising no taxes and plans to help the economy, blah blah and they agree. They also listen to the lamestream media constantly bashing the right and putting out the false claims that Republicans are racist, wealthy and greedy and that they plan to drown orphans and puppies in the lakes after they pollute them and starve old people.

When you actually look at voting records and what is in bills a different picture emerges.

Bottom line is stop listening to all the rhetoric and start taking a hard look at what the politicians have actually done. How many more times will people fall for the lies passed off as campaign promises before they smarten up?

My sister and her husband supported Obama and they liked Clinton. At the same time they support liberals, they hate having so much of their paychecks confiscated for taxes and they resent the large number of welfare people in this town who could work if they weren't lazy dependents. They never put it together that liberals love welfare recipients and they make policies to create as many dependents as possible.

There have been so many times that people who voted for Obama sound downright conservative when they talk about issues ranging from taxes to foreign policy, yet they don't make the connection and realize that the candidate they supported goes against their views. Amazing, but true. Honestly, if Katie Couric and the other liberal mouth pieces would report the truth, people would get it. Too many go on the assumption that if it's on the news, it's the truth and if it's not on the news, it didn't happen or it's a kooky conspiracy theory.

CNN and MSNBC have lost viewers in droves and guess who gained viewers? I am thinking people woke up when they got their insurance cancelled, lost their jobs or just wanted to know more about Benghazi or other scandals and got tired of their usual anchors not bothering to report on it.

Okay, maybe in 50 States....but what about the other 7?

Obama lied to the folks, repeatedly, as part of the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on the American people. It does not satisfy most that he did it for our own good, because we are too stupid to know how to take care of ourselves. He is dispensing with the enforcement of laws in violation of his oath.

His Socialist policies have reminded the folks that a concept of "rights" which is wholly unrelated to "duties" is unrealistic.

I have several friends like that. One is an atheist but at the same time he thinks Obamacare is horrible, dislikes illegal immigration and welfare, and believes that Europe/California/Illinois are going bankrupt due to all of their social programs. Yet he's a liberal because "Republicans don't believe in evolution and shut down the government." Sigh........

It's a matter if perspective. If we designate the North Pole to be the top of the Earth, then the rotation of the Earth is from west to east. In other words, the states are constantly moving to the right because of the earth's rotation.

When the pendulum swings as far as it will go to one side, it will inevitably swing back. It's that simple.

Sure...but all 50 at once ?

I wish that were true.

Nothing has hit all 50, all at once and in such a significant way as obiecare. Will this make the swing? I'm not sure but it sure as heck makes it possible.

I think you are onto something here:

Marc Thiessen: For Democrats in 2014, the Web site is not the problem - The Washington Post

For Democrats in 2014, the Web site is not the problem
By Marc A. Thiessen,

Democrats are praying that this weekend’s relaunch of the Obamacare Web site will save them from an electoral bloodbath in 2014. Their hopes are misplaced. Here are five numbers that suggest that public anger over Obamacare will only grow as Election Day 2014 approaches:

5.5 million. That is how many people the administration needs to sign up in just 23 days because Obamacare drove them out of their health-care plans. That’s some 240,000 sign-ups every single day, just to break even. Getting that many enrolled in a few weeks would be extraordinarily difficult even if the Web site were working perfectly, which it isn’t. According to the New York Times, the system is still sending insurers inaccurate or incomplete information, and the companies are being “deluged with phone calls from people who believe they have signed up for a particular health plan, only to find that the company has no record of the enrollment.” As a result, many Americans could find themselves without insurance on Jan. 1. Their anger at those responsible for putting them through this panic and disruption is not likely to subside by November 2014.

50 million. That is how many Americans will be surprised to find their employer-based health plans dropped or substantially changed next year because of Obamacare. Some will see their plans canceled; others will lose their doctors and see premiums or deductibles rise dramatically. If Democrats think the public is mad about 5.5 million cancellations in the individual market today, imagine the outrage when tens of millions lose their plans in October 2014, right before Election Day.

53. That is the percentage of Americans who now say that President Obama is not “honest or trustworthy.” Americans are not just questioning Obama’s competence, they also are questioning his integrity. A majority now believe that Obama knowingly lied when he said, “If you like your health plan, you can keep your health plan.” Repairing the Web site won’t repair that broken bond of trust.

12. That is the number of Senate Democrats up for reelection in 2014 who are complicit in Obama’s lie. They are on record (and on YouTube) making the same false promise. Sen. Mary Landrieu (La.) pledged, “If you like the insurance that you have, you’ll be able to keep it.” Sen. Mark Pryor (Ark.) said Arkansans want to know “are we gonna be able to stick with our plan? The answer is yes.” Sen. Kay Hagan (N.C.) promised, “If you like your insurance and your doctors, you keep them.” Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.) swore, “Everyone will have the freedom to keep their health plan if they like it.” Sen. Mark Begich (Alaska) vowed, “Alaskans who have health insurance now, and are happy with it, can keep it.” Sen. Mark Warner (Va.) declared, “I’m not going to support a health-care reform plan that’s going to take away the health care you’ve got right now or a health-care plan that you like.”

The rest made similar pledges. Expect to see those pledges in Republican ads next fall.

7. That is the number of states with vulnerable Democratic-held senate seats that also have Republican governors. Why is this important? Because Obamacare premiums are set to skyrocket next year (because the exchanges are signing up many older, sicker people and not enough of the young, healthy people needed to subsidize the others). No wonder the president moved next year’s Obamacare sign-up date to 11 days after Election Day. The flaw in his plan is that the nation’s governors will know the new rates before Election Day. In blue states, Democratic governors may keep the secret, but in red states, such as Alaska, Iowa, Louisiana, Michigan, North Carolina, New Mexico and South Dakota, Republican governors won’t. So not only will millions of Americans get hit with cancellations next October, many also will learn that they cannot afford new coverage under Obamacare either — right before they go to the polls.

In other words, Democrats who are obsessing over the failure of the Web site are focused on the wrong problem. Americans are not just angry about a broken Web site; they are angry about a broken promise. They are angry about being told they could keep their health plans but finding out that pledge was never meant to be kept. They are angry that just a few weeks before the end of the year, they don’t know if they and their families will be insured on Jan. 1. They are angry about rising premiums, growing deductibles, losing their doctors and being forced into Obamacare plans they don’t want.

They are angry about being lied to.

That is why Democrats need to worry in 2014.

Sorry, I disagree ... most fervently.

Virgina has already begun to cross over into the blue.

Young voters may be turning Virginia blue
Paul Singer, USA TODAY

FAIRFAX, Va. — As an ugly gubernatorial race grinds to conclusion in Virginia, Republicans in the commonwealth face a growing demographic problem: young people.

Young voters in Virginia are a growing chunk of the state's electorate, and as a group, their politics have shifted dramatically in favor of Democrats over the past 15 years.

The question facing Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Ken Cuccinelli is whether they will show up at the polls in big enough numbers to matter next week.

Both campaigns are playing to their slice of the youth vote: McAuliffe campaigned with former president Bill Clinton in college towns across Virginia this week, including Blacksburg (Virginia Tech), Charlottesville (University of Virginia) and Harrisonburg (James Madison University). Cuccinelli appeared at Lynchburg's evangelical Liberty University — the fastest-growing school in the state — with Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. on Monday.

In 1996, voters age 18-29 made up 15% of the state's presidential vote, and they voted for Republican Bob Dole over Bill Clinton, 49%-42%, bucking the national trend. That year, 53% of young people nationwide voted for Clinton, according to exit polls.

By 2012, the under-30 crowd had grown to 19% of the state's voters and their politics had shifted. They voted 61% for President Obama's re-election, 1 point higher than the national total for their peers.

Ted Cruz' dad is SUCH a blessing, I tell you what.

Ted Cruz's Father: Black People 'Uninformed' And 'Deceived'

Evangelical pastor Rafael Cruz, father of tea party star Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), called black and Hispanic voters “uninformed” and “deceived" during a speech to conservative activists in February.

After attending a panel on minority outreach at the FreedomWorks grassroots summit, Cruz, a Cuban-American, born-again Christian, spoke at the conference. He noted that a previous speaker "mentioned something about Hispanics being uninformed or deceived."

"Well, the same thing is true of the black population,” Cruz said.

Cruz also suggested how blacks and Hispanics should vote. “As a matter of fact, if we could communicate the truth, not only to the Hispanics but to the black population, all blacks should be Republican," he said.

That'll go over real well.

And Romney won by a landslide in 2012. LOL

No, all 50 states are not moving to the right. In fact, with Virginia going blue, and Texas on the brink of the same, it may be a while before the GOP does well in a National Election. You just cannot alienate the working poor, the middle class, most of the minorities, and scare the bejeebers out of Wall Street, and expect to win elections. Gotta have some votes other than the fruitloops and those that are senile.

It is the definition of left/right that has shifted. There are no longer any liberal Republicans. Eisenhower and even Reagan would be vilified as RINOs today.

But the Red/Blue demographic is also changing as swing states turn more blue and red states are hunkering down in the Bible Belt

Reactionaries have redefined the political world so that a President Ford would be a liberal.

Yet the swing states are going purple, so the reactionary definition is off, not accurate.
