Alex Baldwin vindicated

On sets, actor point weapons at actors and pull the trigger all the time, with weapons that are loaded with blanks or not loaded at all. You would probably have to prove he loaded it, which I doubt.
Had he seriously taken the NRA safety course, unconsciously he would never have had his finger on the trigger nor pointed it at anyone outside of the movie scene?

It's not a good day to be an Alec Baldwin hater.
Police said the movie director who handed him the prop gun told him it had no bullets in it.
Please no police bashing in this thread. Thank you.
"Alec Baldwin was handed what was described as a safe "cold gun" on the set of his movie "Rust", but the prop gun contained live rounds when it was fired, according to details of the police investigation into the fatal shooting released on Friday."
This is the official apology thread to those who bashed Alec Baldwin.
He still should have checked.

It was BRANDON LEE who died by on set firearms accident, not Bruce Lee his already dead father.
In Brandon’s case autopsy confirmed an actual live round bullet was in his body and caused his death. Somebody loaded the gun with a live round.
Of course, you are right, I just don't keep up with the celebrity goings-on in Hollywood.

This thread is full of arrogant ignorance.
No an actor in a movie using firearms doesn’t have an obligation to clear the weapon as unloaded, BECAUSE IT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE UNLOADED! It is supposed to be loaded with blanks or more likely dummy rounds - rounds which look exactly like a real bullet (and so in some scenes can be shown on a table or being loaded and look perfectly realistic) but don’t have an actual bullet in them - just a dummy. These dummy bullets are difficult to discern by the untrained eye, which is why every set using firearms is supposed to have an armorer in charge of firearms and the appropriate ammunition to be loaded in them - blanks or dummies.
All this hate on Alec is laughable since 99% of you haven’t got a clue what you are even talking about.

It was a working firearm.

If you want to pretend that it's someone else's responsibility than the individual handling the firearm then that makes you the one filled with arrogant ignorance.

Don't like that answer then the barrels of all firearms used as props on movie sets should all be leaded to prevent incidents like this one.

Want to argue that it will decrease the realism in the production that's just too damn bad.

He doesn't seem like an NRA kind of guy. I doubt he took it or that it is required of actors.

How did a real round get into the gun?

I know it's happened before on the set of "The Crow" movie where the star of the movie was shot dead, but it seems like a bunch of professionals would catch something like a real round.

Blanks are live rounds.. Lots has been posted about this in the past 24 hours and it was the propmaster NOT the assistant director who handed Baldwin the gun and called out "Cold gun" to the crew.

How is Baldwin NOT legally responsible? Who was it that pointed the gun and pulled the trigger?

Likely Baldwin's defense will be that he is IGNORANT, don't blame him!
He was told it wasn't loaded with real bullets. He is an actor. That is the defense is my guess.

Baldwin never checked it himself, therefore it was his responsibility, Why did he have his finger on the trigger?
