Air Force Reproves Senate Candidate Doug Collins on Campaign Ads in Uniform

House Republican Doug Collins of Georgia has gotten a warning from the Air Force about a U.S. Senate campaign ad that shows him in uniform, but does not include the required disclaimer.

Collins, a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserve, was informed, along with his campaign team, about Defense Department regulations stating that candidates "may include photographs of themselves in military uniform in campaign materials when accompanied by a disclaimer," an Air Force Reserve spokesman said.

..........
Political disclaimers must be "prominent and clearly displayed," according to DoD directives.

.........

Weinstein, a lawyer and Air Force veteran, charged Thursday that Collins was still running the ads in "blatant violation" of DoD directives and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

"He has still not taken the ads down," Weinstein said, adding that he viewed the Air Force warning to Collins as inadequate.

In an Oct. 20 letter to Defense Secretary Mark Esper, Weinstein said MRFF was demanding that "official, criminal UCMJ charges be aggressively brought against Collins so that he faces a formal trial by court-martial."

They might want to remember who their commader in chief is and what party he belongs to. It could have a somewhat chilling effect on any long term career intentions.

Not real bright, are ya'?

Technically speaking, if a military member is five minutes late for work, they can be charged under the UCMJ and stand trial by court martial.

Of course that never happens.

Collins isn't going to stand trial, and anyone who thinks he will (or should) is a fucking idiot. This is a pretty minor offense and will be handled as such...

Nope, he needs to be made an example. He knew the law. He broke the law. That has consequences despite what you military haters think.
Why should he care about the UCMJ. He doesn't about the US Constitution so much either. He's another one that had better damn worry about Rump winning. If not, the new CIC may not stand in the way of the Military upholding it's own laws.

Nice to see that the USAF is on it's toes these days. Forget about Afghanistan, focus on a republican reservist candidate.

He thinks that ALL Military are supposed to be "The Party of the Rump". We should all think alike. You know exactly the way "They" tell us to. Anyone that's spent as long as we have know that there are as many different ideas in the Military as there are grains of salt.

You may be right about how they are going to handle it. But as long as Rump is in office, it's going to put on hold until AFTER the election. And that election will really determine the amount of spanking he's going to get. But his military carreer is pretty much over either way.

You guys acting like this is some amazingly horrific crime are funny. It's not.

I've got $1,000 which says Collins is never subjected to a court martial. Ever.Anyone got the balls to take that bet?

No, of course not.

Joe Biden could win on Tuesday and Collins still wouldn't ever be subjected to a court martial.

Won't happen...
