Cities were so clean and quiet and orderly.

TV stations reported the news for 15 or 30 minutes max (none of this 24/7 "breaking news" mania).

We had a kindly grandfather for President.

The few people who used airplanes would dress nicely.

Choo choo trains still transported people.

People on New York City subways were safe.

Then tragedy struck: the 1960s arrived!
