Actor Alec Baldwin shoots and kills Director on set of movie

Reports are that Baldwin shot the gun and the bullet went straight through the producer-gal (Halyna Hutchins) into the director's (Joel Suza) clavicle. It must have been a real gun that was supposed to be loaded with blanks. Reports say it was an accidental weapons discharge of a live single round that was accidentally fired. More info...

"Tobey Bays, a prop and set artist by training and the business agent for IATSE Local 44, told The Daily Beast that saying on-set that a gun is “live” doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a live round in it, and can mean there’s a blank in the chamber."

"He further explained that Hollywood prop masters will “only put the amount of blanks into the gun that are meant to be shot in the scene... They’re pretty strict, they’ll always yell out, ‘Gun is hot!’ before they hand it over to the actor.”

I think this says it all....

"Bays said the Rust shoot was “lower budget” and used a local crew that didn’t include any of his union members. There are only two major armorers in Los Angeles that provide modified prop guns for the entire country, he said, and “a proper round would not work in any of those guns.”

Pretty good article there. Thanks for the link.

There was a movie guy on Tucker's show tonight. He said (among other things) that everyone is told to treat every weapon as though it were loaded at all times. Never point a gun at anyone. Don't put your finger on the trigger unless you intend to fire.

As any gun club member knows, Baldwin was guilty of gross negligence. Maybe someone else was in charge of the gun, but Baldwin was culpable. And this being the U.S. of A., he will be sued, big time. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
Absolutely correct, he can't lay it all at the feet of the person who handed him the gun. He has to always practice gun safety. Double check the ammo, put bullet proof plexi in front of camera operator, don't aim directly at the person behind the camera & make sure everyone else is out of line of fire. Clearly, multiple safety protocols were skipped.

Halyna Hutchins family needs to sue Baldwin, the gun armor, director & the movie company for millions.

This is likely murder & should be investigated as such. Possibly a Trump supporter loading live round to get back at Baldwin for his protesting against & many SNL portrayals of Trump. Or Hutchins may have been having sex with one of them & they were afraid of being exposed.

Yeah so? How does a guy with a temper jump to murder on a movie set?! You have zero evidence to make these claims. So why make them?
And if Baldwin was a Trump supporter you would be agreeing with the poster or sitting silently and not defending Baldwin…

How does any guy or woman jump to murder when they have a bad temper?

It happens daily!

 :omg:

Maybe Dave Halls should be investigated? TWICE now, someone died due to his...negligence? Plan? Is this guy another Ted Bundy in disguise?

..unless there was a bad spring/pin/etc, it wasn't accidental---he pulled the trigger ....

The shooting was scripted. so it would depend on the camera angle and the staging for the scene.

He killed the young female cinematographer who is the person
who oversees or directs photography and camerawork in movie-making, especially one who operates the camera.
He has no respect for firearms. This is a wake up call for Hollywood to rethink its gun policy. Instead of making billions glorifying gun violence and wagging their finger at law-abiding gun owners, learn how to respect and use a firearm. As I said in an earlier post, movies and the arts community as a whole that intends to use any type of firearm needs to be subject to firearms safety and certification. The NRA can help.

..as I said before, this is 2021 and they should have '''firearms'' that look real but that are harmless

The claim is that he was involved in the non-fatal Crow sequel.

That's smart. Chamber prop-guns in a caliber that doesn't exist and ensure that no production ammunition will fit that chambering.
