“Affordable” housing is defined by the government as that which does not cost more than 30% of a person’s income.

In 2019, the average rent for a one bedroom apartment in San Francisco was $3,720 per month.

Source: San Francisco apartment rent prices are dropping fast as tech companies embrace remote work and unemployment rises

If a person works 2,000 hours per week, then according to the math, they would need to earn a minimum of $74.40 per hour in order for the average one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco to considered “affordable.”

Therefore, according to the logic of liberals, the local minimum wage in San Francisco should be increased to $74.40 per hour.

I think that figure has changed due to inflation.

The article that I cited says rent has gone down due to COVID.

But my basic point remains.

The next minimum wage rate bill: The next U.S. Congressional bill to increase the federal minimum wage rate, should be the last minimum rate bill to be passed and enacted.

That bill should set a targeted purchasing power value of no less than 125% of the minimum
‘s Febuary-1968 value. The minimum should be annually increased by uniform increments until it achieves its targeted value. Thereafter it should be annually monitored and adjusted to retain its purchasing value.
Democrats foolishly draft minimum rate bills in terms of dollars rather than of purchasing power. Consequentially, if and when the bills pass through congress, it’s always too little too late. ...

Nah. $15 is too high.

Won't do any good. The Cost of living would go up 1.2% higher than that so the raise would be a wage cut. Those that want a higher min wage needs to address that the Cost of Living has outstripped the wage increases by more than the wage increase. It's been going on since the early 70s.

Of course, if we were actually do something against the greed factor, the Rumpers would all be screaming "COMMUNISTS".

Why not an even hundred bucks an hour? For that matter, make $100/hr the maximum wage too.

They should do it!

And a loaf of bread will cost 38 dollars.
Possibly, but then all families of less than median earned incomes would no less afford bread but rather the purchasing powers would certainly be increased.
To the extent of its purchasing power and enforcement, minimum wage rate reduces poverty among wage earners and their dependents. The fault of our federal minimum wage is it is not, as social security benefits are annually cost of living adjusted. Respectfully, Supposn
