The following data is only from one State (Colorado) but it is disturbing. The overwhelming number of people signing up for Obamacare are older and sicker. Obama officials refuse to release enrollee demographic information for the National website (probably because the numbers are equally bad), but Colorado officials are releasing the numbers.

Per HHS, 40% of Obamacare enrollees must be young and healthy for the program to work financially. Colorado is getting only 11%. This means the program will not be remotely viable and will either fail, or require a massive taxpayer bailout. Here is the story from CNN with a key quote.


"Demographic information released at the end of November shows the makeup of the exchange so far skews much older than federal officials have targeted.

The White House has set a goal of ensuring that roughly 40% of all enrollees on the federal exchange are young and healthy.

As of November 30, just 11% of total enrollees in Colorado’s exchange fall into the targeted 18 to 34 age bracket. The majority of new enrollees – more than 60% – are between 45 and 65."

I'm glad that I procrastinated. I was facing a 120% increase in premiums just to keep a similar level of coverage. Yesterday I got a recorded phone message from my current provider stating they will let me keep my current policy, but premiums will go up at least 20% in February. Let's hope this fiasco gets killed and buried where it belongs.

Even if they don't reach that number, though, it would be one of the smaller problems we'll have to deal with.

That's true of socialism generally. It's the reason why it keeps failing. And will continue to fail, whether called "socialism" or "Obamacare" or "Ponzi" on anything else.

The only real difference here, is that this is a program where the U.S. government can bail it out and might try.

In which case it will take all the rest of us down with it when it dies.

And that estimate was made before the massive cancellation of policies and before the extent of the price increases under O-care was recognized. I'm curious about what their next estimate will be.

While 250,000 Coloradoradoans got cancellation notices on their insurance--34,000 signed up for medicade. The numbers are very low in Colorado for people actually pushing the BUY button.

We all know it was the YOUTH vote that took Obama to victory twice--but they're not real fond of him right now. Primarily over the NASA secret wire tapping.

When Obama was campaigning--I think most of the YOUTH actually thought they were going to get medical insurance for FREE--and or that the RICH were going to pay for it for them.

But I think this is going on all over the country. The YOUTH while fascinated with Obama when he was out on the campaign trail really doesn't know much about Obamacare, or any of his other policies for that matter.
