The very science that Conservatives were demanding that the United States follow way back in April. You know, the immunity to a disease that all living mammals achieve when a virus runs through the population.

Sweden is now back to what normal is. They did not lockdown. They did not enforce masks. They spent a month using social distancing (without masks) and today, they eat in restaurants, got to movies, and ride busses and trains in complete freedom. Mask free.

They still test, and their results are that less than 1% come up positive and a tiny fraction of that 1% actually becomes ill enough to need medical intervention.

Kind of reminds Me of how the world treats influenza.

So, when you hear a leftist scream "The Science" put a map of Sweden up and show them the real science.

That was the whole point of 'flattening the curve'. But that flattening was a very short program because the science always shows that there is an initial surge and that after that surge, the curve drops dramatically. We witness this in Sweden. The main part of the hypocrisy is that you say "a percapita fatality rate several times higher than their neighbors", but when it is pointed out that our mortality rate in the US is far lower than any other country, you suddenly start talking about total deaths.

You cannot have it both ways.

By every measure that has true meaning, the Swedes program of following the science and letting the natural immunity of the herd work in their favor, they not only have passed the crisis point, but they have also, in fact, turned the corner and returned to normalcy.

This means that 'Cases" is used as a scare tactic, not as a meaningful metric of danger.

If we were to 'test' for influenza, we would find that the number of 'Cases" exceeds the number of 'Cases' of the Covid 19. But there is no power to be won by testing for influenza, no votes to be had, no fear to be spread.


As for flattening the curve, that time has long since past, and it not a justification for the current violation of civil rights.

Sweden is a success story of the real science of virology. The lockdowns are a failure of epic proportions.

We have also learned that a single individual can be flagged "Positive" a dozen times or more and still be negative for the virus.

So, a conservative estimate would be that for every 1000 "positive' tests in the database of all the people who have the 'Cases', about 1 or 2 would be a real positive.

So, yeah. The scare tactic of 'Cases' to make people think that if they get the virus they are going to die is significantly a lower threat then dying from the common cold.

Medical Definition of case
1 : the circumstances and situation of a particular person or group. 2a : an instance of disease or injury 10 cases of pneumonia. b : patient sense

The definition in this sense just says that there are 10 case of pneumonia. It does not imply severity or how the individual is handling the disease.

obvious the use the use of the word is not confusing or a scare tactic in the medical field. Instead it is used by the repub spin machine for dubious reasons. Feed the conspiracy machine.

Everyone is well aware of that the number who die from this disease is low. use the word case does scare people

what scares some is that Trump will be blamed.

So saying that location A has 10 cases of COVID-19 means that there are 10 people who have tested positive for COVID -19. There is no implication that you will die or how severe the case is because the word case is being used. The CDC and governments have been providing statistics for people to understand and everyone realizes what the death rate is.
