So much for the 'doom and gloom' fear-mongering from the hysterical left drama queen Snowflakes.....

Dollar hits 14-year high as Trump-fueled bond sell-off resumes

"The dollar hit a 14-year high against a basket of currencies on Wednesday as a post-U.S. election sell-off resumed across global bond markets, lifting Treasury yields and attracting investors to the U.S. currency."

You do know that hurts our trade deficit, right? In other words, US manufacturering is hurt by a strong dollar if their products are sold overseas.

You do realize that a stronger dollar strengthens American purchasing power, don't you? We are, after all, a net importing nation so a stronger dollar reduces the cost of living for taxpayers.

You do understand that dollar strength pertains to an exchange rate don't you?

The dollar is a reserve currency and as long as there is a USA foreigners will hold money in dollars when the future looks bleak. I see this as a sign of general unrest.

That isn't good for increasing exports.

If you're holding gold it's time to consider selling before the bottom falls out.

Bank stocks went up a bit in anticipation of the repeal of that idiotic Dodd Frank bill. Dodd and Frank were two of the scumbags responsible for the "housing crisis" so back when the swamp was full of democrat scum, they actually were involved in legislation that supposedly would prevent a repeat. It is like with Y2K, a bunch of people specializing in that nonsense will have to get real jobs.

Of course, it would only make sense. I was just pointing out that a strong dollar carries consequence for people working here manufacturing products that are sold overseas. In other words, if you lose your job because your companies sales go down, a strong dollar doesn't matter if you're not getting paid.

Agreed. So the objective should be to return manufacturing jobs here and us become a net exporting nation again. Something President Elect Trump supports.

Well yes, it seems to me we have over rewarded companies who move jobs overseas.
