83% of PA voters: Reform PA Voting Laws before next election

Eighty-three percent (83%) of Pennsylvania voters say it’s important to reform Pennsylvania’s voting laws before the next election. A Political IQ survey found that just 11% disagree.

Those totals include 63% who say election law reform is Very Important and only 3% who say it is Not at All Important.

There’s also strong support for many specific reforms:

88% agree that, prior to the election, government agencies should clean the voter registration files and remove the names of all who have moved or died.
75% strongly approve of requiring all mail-in ballots to be received by Election Day.
68% think government agencies should be required to report the vote totals from all ballots on Election Night.
88% believe both Republican and Democratic party officials should be allowed in the room for every step of the ballot collection and ballot counting procedures.
75% say all voters who cast their ballot in person should be required to show a photo ID before voting.
For those who mail in their ballot, 58% believe they should be required to include a copy of their photo ID.
56% want ballot harvesting to be outlawed.
Additionally, 69% want mail-in ballots sent only to those who request them. Twenty-seven percent (27%) believe they should be sent to all voters.

The online survey of 1,000 Registered Voters in Pennsylvania was conducted by Scott Rasmussen from November 16-19, 2020. Field work for the survey was conducted by RMG Research, Inc. Respondents were selected from a list of Registered Voters and through a process of Random Digital Engagement. Certain quotas were applied and the sample was lightly weighted by geography, gender, age, race, education, and political party to reasonably reflect the state’s population of Registered Voters. Other variables were reviewed to ensure that the final sample is representative of that population. Among the respondents who voted in the presidential election, 50% voted for Biden, 46% for Trump, and 3% for some other candidate. All the above is in direct contrast to HR 1, the bill recently passed in the House that would take everything out of state and local hands and federalize it. If you want a permanent one-party gov't, that's the way to do it. And don't think the democrats aren't aware of that, the pressure is mounting on Manchin and Sinema to abolish the filibuster and make the Senate a simple majority rule.

I hope to God the PA legislature follows through on these reforms, along with every other state. In the minds of many, the reliability and accuracy of the 2020 election remains in doubt. Hopefully the states will do something to improve or restore somewhat the trust we used to have in our election system.

You know what's really sad? There are people like DragonLady who actually believe what she said is true. The truth is that the vast majority of allegations made concerning the 2020 election have NOT been proved one way or the other. Some cases were thrown out of court based on technicalities, standing and so forth. But NONE that I know of were thrown out based on merit. No court has ruled that any allegation made was not true; it the coming months courts may rule that there is not enough solid evidence to prove an allegation true, but that is not the same thing as saying it was false. Innocent until proven guilty works for gov't processes too, election results were certified in each state and that means that the burden of proof is on the people who claim fraud occurred to prove it.

And here's the thing: there are that many people today who do not trust our election process to be accurate. Too many believe that fraud DID occur, to the point were the results are in question. IMHO, we can't have that in this country because if you can't fully trust the election process then you also can't fully trust those who were elected, and that means the legitimacy of our gov't up to and including the presidency is in some doubt. And that is why every allegation should be examined and investigated if enough evidence exists to support the time, money, and effort. As a nation we've got to do everything that is reasonable to ensure as best we can the legitimacy of our elections.

Of course, Democrats’ own voters respond to John Lewis’ touching story by saying, Good for him, but — when is the election again? Tuesday? Yeah, that’s not going to be convenient for me.

And that’s the nub of the problem. The Democrats have a lot of what we call “unmotivated voters.” Risk their lives to vote? They won’t risk missing a couple hours of TV.

These are people who don’t pay attention to the news (that’s why they’re Democrats); don’t speak English (that’s why they’re Democrats); or don’t have a fully developed pre-frontal cortex because they’re under the age of 26 (that’s why they’re Democrats). And so on.

Consequently, Democrats have to mobilize armies of volunteers to carry their voters on gurneys to the polls on Election Day.

Wouldn’t it be easier if they had a few months to get their voters to the polls? What if their voters didn’t have to show up at all?
