- Propaganda is a type of message aimed at influencing the opinions or behavior of people. Instead of impartially providing information, propaganda can present facts but do so selectively, produce deliberately misleading information, or load messages, whether essentially truthful or not, with emotional meaning in order to produce an emotional rather than rational response to the message that is being presented.

I have gone through the white house press realeases from September 11th 2001, to October 11th 2001, and counted the words President Bush used selectively, and repeatedly.

With in 30 days of 911, official white house documents show that Bush used these words in speeches to the public, this many times.

This is only in the span of 30 days.

Attack-s - 25
Enemy-ies - 16
Terror-ist-ism - 183
9/11- Sept 11th- 16
OBL - 4
Al Qaeda - 18
Taliban - 14
Evil-doer - 40
God - 8
War - 74
Afghanistan - 14
Justice - 32
Murder-er-s - 7
Fight - 14
Threat-s - 9

This does not include how many times the media repeated and replayed what was said.

This is specifically what President Bush said, it does not include staements or speeches from Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Cheney, or Powel.

You can only imagine how many times the public heard these words.

and he should have been speaking of what? Milk subsidies? What is your point?

Oh, I get it! Propaganda, tied to his speeches/releases for the month after 9/11. Gee, how weird that WOT would be the focus. :cuckoo:

I think the focus was prepping the public for invasion and war, getting the masses, afraid and ready to do whatever the Administration had in mind.

These speaches were written, and the words were all selected carefully, you really think Bush needed to say Terror 183 times?

Yes to both. BTW, I DID read and understand that post, the "Oh" was sarcasm, I'll try to be more direct in the future.

I do not have the time, but it would be interesting to research and note when the focus shifted from OBL/Afghanistan/Al Qaeda to Saddam/Iraq/WMD's

I don't recall it being all that gradual and I recall it happening 'round about Labor Day 2002, but my memory may not be that accurate.

Good work Super.

How I wished he would have used a a time or two words like Courage, life, democracy, Rise above, Humankind, Freedom, Allies and the like.

And somehow you believe this would have been different if someone else had been President? Is that what you're trying to say?

They would have not been used to take us to Iraq if Gore had been president.

And somehow you believe this would have been different if someone else had been President? Is that what you're trying to say?

I absolutely am convinced that President Al Gore would have kept his eye on the prize and would not have invaded Iraq. yes.

And somehow you believe this would have been different if someone else had been President? Is that what you're trying to say?

No, I just believe that there was a concious effort to scare Americans, through propaganda, and the Administration used it purposely and effectively.

Bush is such an idiot. I can't believe when he says evil-doer. That sounds like a child is speaking. I am waiting for him to say he thinks they all have kooties next. The american people are so stupid for voting this idiot in. I'm sorry, I dont see how anyone can think Bush is better than Gore would be. It just baffles the imagination because it is impossible to do worse than Bush.

Just checking. I am of the opinion that any administration faced with a similar situation would have done the same thing. The truth is, to send troops into harms way requires the support of the people as much as the support of the politicians. Naturally you hope for better management than we have seen.

I agree with you, but I do not believe fear is a better tactic than fact based information.

Neither do I. Unfortunately I believe that we are in the minority. In this age of sound bites as news, most people take their news quick, fast, and light. Very few people in today's world want to take the time to understand what's what. They happily accept their news being spoon fed and consider themselves informed. The result is, politicians structure their speeches accordingly.

speaking of propaganda... I think this is hilarious....
