2 Million Households Now Owe $15 Billion in Back Rent

Our corrupt government spends trillions to enrich the rich, but can’t help the poor. As the OP indicated, we shouldn’t have socialism for the poor. They need capitalism, while the rich get socialism.

We have a trillion dollar war budget enriching the rich. We have a tax law that allows billionaires to pay little to nothing in taxes. But hey! The poor are on the own.

What a country!
It is not taxpayers responsibility to support everyone else................

Nope! $27 Billion in the last COVID RELIEF bill and in total with other bills $50 billion has been allotted to the states.

State bureaucracy seems to be all tied up. Only 5% has reached renter/landlords....that means 95% of this recent relief money, has not!

New York State is one of the WORST, it distributed ZERO DOLLARS last month to renters in this relief and they received $2 billion in funds from federal COVID Relief...for renter/landlord relief.

Schumer urges state to speed up rent relief payments

Sen. Charles E. Schumer

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., called on the State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (ODTA) to act to get federal rent relief into the pockets of people who need it before it’s too late, on Monday.
Schumer made public a formal letter to the state agency and said the more than $2 billion he secured for the state and tenants—as part of the larger COVID relief bill passed in the U.S. Senate—cannot be delayed any further and that the program being utilized by the State of New York to get the dollars out needs to be improved immediately to move even faster, especially as the State of New York’s eviction moratorium deadline of Aug. 31, and U.S. Treasury’s mandated date for beginning to reallocate funds at the end of September approaches.
As reflected in the data released by the Department of Treasury for the month of June, New York State was one of only two states that had given out $0 in federal rent relief. Today, Schumer is demanding swift action to reverse this deeply concerning status report.
“Thousands and thousands of New York tenants could be deprived of critical rent relief checks if the state doesn’t move more quickly on getting this money out,” said Schumer. “Today, I am formally asking ODTA to move heaven and earth to fix the mess, pick up the pace and get this federal money out the door before it’s too late for tenants and landlords. The message today is: tenant relief now. No more delay.”
Schumer lamented with tenants and state lawmakers that only “a pittance” of the federal funds have gone out—in light of vast public pressure. He said it is good the state is finalizing its process for disbursing dollars and some funds are trickling out, but that we will need a waterfall of funds to avoid the looming deadlines, both related to evictions and Treasury mandates at the end of September.
“New York State tenants have been suffering since the beginning of this unprecedented pandemic with both an economic and health crisis. The over $2 billion in rent relief that Senator Schumer obtained for tenants and landlords has the potential to be life saving for our clients. However, since the program opened, our clients are experiencing a challenging application process, glitchy website and opaque rules and procedures and almost no money has been paid out. We thank Senator Schumer for his leadership on this issue and call on the state to fix the problems and spend this money,” said Judith Goldiner of the Legal Aid Society.

It appears that Marxism in America is still in its infancy

One of the reasons why the public outcry over the pandemic restrictions has been so muted is that the full costs of the lockdowns are often obscured by government edicts that prevent markets from making those costs known. Last weekend the socialist experiment of free rent ended.

As many as 1.95 million households across America owed a collective $15 billion in back rent when a nationwide eviction moratorium expired this weekend, according to Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia estimates.

That number will reach 2 million by December, according to the report released Friday. In Pennsylvania, about 60,000 renter households will owe $412 million come August.
All according to plan.

“Hey, let’s give everyone enough money to pay their rents. At the same time, we will tell them they cannot be evicted for not paying their rent”

They knew exactly what they were doing. Setting a timer, on a bomb.

There will be few rentals in the future, only an idiot would take the gamble the government won’t do it again. I am laughing at all the millennials with no affordable rentals available who think socialism works.
Bless every conserv who suffers

This is so hilarious. These are the scum bag tennents you hope only a libturd gets......lolol

Bless every conserv building owner

May you libturds get wiped out in foreclosure

Well, now that this uber faggotry has ended. Perhaps they can find someone to make my bed the next time I check into a hotel?
This goes to show you that most people are poor because they are lazy, and choose to be so.
If you were not so lazy you could make yer own bed and lie in it.

it will take eviction courts yrs to evict these people......lololololol
Libs here are claiming that all the unpaid rent owed to landlords is in the government pipeline

but a bad case of do-gooder/socialist constipation is preventing the checks from going out

what a mess

We have to pay it. What a mess indeed. But it is necessary to wake idiots up

This will effect shit holes real bad. It is for the greater good

Most landlords are "small time" meaning that they rent rooms of the building they occupy or simply rent one or two houses they have purchased.

Single family housing bubble has popped. Too expensive and unobtainable for new construction. Multi-family housing demand is rising... probably will continue till it too becomes another bubble that will pop... maybe an equilibrium will be reached.... unlike what has happened in China and junk bonds. (We now have laws and practices to keep such things from happening)

And Chuck Schumer? He's a politician paying off favors for constituents. What else would he do?

Boy I sent Marriot a nasty gram for that shit. Three bills per night and no one is gonna make my GD bed or give me towels?
"Sir if you want towels leave your old towels in the hallway and then come down to the desk for more"
The hell? The sack on those SOB's.

I believe we have 37 or so Republican State Governors, and 13 Democratic Governors responsible for distributing the funds...

The federal govt, weighed down in bureaucracy passed the money on to the States, so they could be responsible for getting the money in to the hands of their citizens....this was suppose to cut lag times created by federal bureaucracy....

Looks like the State governments, closer to the final recipient, are no better than the federal govt.

Most of the career inert pinheads - aka civil servants - in government are not republicans

There are all kinds of Fed programs these folks can apply for. Many have been instituted since the Chinese virus hit and caused layoffs.

All they have to do is contact the Government to get help. Not hard.
