Idiocracy is a 2006 American science fiction comedy film directed by Mike Judge and co-written by Judge and Etan Cohen.
it follows an American soldier who takes part in a classified hibernation experiment, only to be accidentally frozen for too long and awaken 500 years later in a dystopian world where dysgenics and commercialism have run rampant, mankind has embraced anti-intellectualism, and society is devoid of such traits as intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, justice, and human rights

Watch and understand how "Idiocracy" is closer to reality today. Example:

Bain is raising the bar on how we think about long-term careers.
We are moving from just supporting our womxn to be successful to ensuring that every woman at Bain truly thrives in her career. To us, thriving is more than just day-to-day success on the job; it is about enabling our womxn to grow and flourish in both their professional and personal lives. Thriving is a highly individual journey and Bain is focused on enabling every woman to thrive on her own path, based on her own professional and personal priorities.

In addition, womxn at Bain across every industry, consulting service and geography are making a huge impact daily for our clients. Their expertise and thought leadership are what fuel Bain’s impressive success.

LOL!!! Anti-intellectualism describes the Trumpista attitude to a tee. Thank God we dodged that bullet. If Idiocracy is the situation under Biden, explain your poster boy.

The government in 1984 was not an idiocracy. They were clever to an almost ridiculous degree. They ran every single thing, spied on every single person, kept almost perfect order and most people seemed content. It was certainly empty and soulless but so is much of our society.

So "intellectualism" is represented by a pedophile. Who mutters. Who has as this voter said..
"I hope that you will join me in voting for Joe Biden for president.
  • He’s an awful pick.
  • He’s ancient,
  • showing pretty severe signs of dementia, oh yeah, and he’s a creepy rapist.
So her ONLY reason to vote for Biden was:
BUT: he’s not trump."
And so added to her reasons you have the above picture. Wow... now that is "intellectualism" totally on display!

Is that really what you took from reading 1984?

Not immediately. I read it when I was 12 but after a lifetime of watching humans try to govern themselves I cannot see any plausible way to get to the world of 1984 from here. Authoritarianism just does work that well. It is inherently unstable. The book describes a static monolithic state that has apparently existed for quite some time, it does not remotely match anything that currently exists.

"In a comprehensive study of the Flynn Effect, Jakob Pietschnig and Martin Voracek looked at 271 independent samples comprising 3,987,892 participants covering a time span of 105 years (1909–2013).1

They find strong evidence to support the claim that IQ has been increasing substantially over time.2 The paper discusses several explanations for the observed increases, namely education, exposure to technology and nutrition. For the definitions of the different IQ measures presented in the chart click here."

While Idiocracy is both cleaver and intuitively plausible it turns out that in the real world biology is more robust and Idiocracy is a false hypothesis. People are not only getting smarter, the change is both measurable and rather large.

Actually we could use a President Camacho at this point. He was smarter than Biden. Then again i've seen pet birds that I would rather be governed by.

QAnon Shaman is just a white Camacho. Will you be running him in '24? That should be fun to watch.
What's it to you? You look the other way for many things Progs do. Progs for the most part are not cruelly villified by comedians, TV skits and movies. Redneck reality shows you laugh at. How about some inner city ghetto ones. Can we get the real reality? Many people may be shocked if they do. I will support low income housing in Prog dominated suburban areas.

It does sound startlingly like our actual government doesn't it? The NSA, PRISM, Five Eyes, corporatist mass media....

Big government. That's their religion.

I would argue that the current system is like a cross between 1984 and Brave New World.

Orwell gave us the concept of Newspeak. It very much is what progressivism engages in by redefining words for political agendas. Orwell also had a great understanding of what motivates the powerhungry and how media can manipulate the masses.

Huxley went into greater detail as to how corporations can seduce the public into mindless consumption, instant gratification, and hedonism.

Idiocracy was a perfect metaphor for the past four years.

So then it sounds like you are also an advocate of sociobiology as founded by Edmund O. Wilson of Harvard.
The principle that some behaviors are at least partly inherited and can be affected by natural selection.
And by extrapolation then homosexuality is a learned behavior. In other words why would natural selection promote
unfulfilled reproductive activity? Hence it is more of a "learned" behavior. Another tenet of sociobiology would give credence to the black community's reparation arguments. I.e. slave owners wouldn't want "intelligent" but weak slaves now would they?

...more like a lot of humanity in general.

Sexuality is likely a combination of genetics and environment. That being said, Kinsey's theory of sexuality has largely been discredited. Sexuality isn't as "fluid" as many originally thought. This also calls into question the concept of "genderfluid." Gender is different from sexuality, but it has many connections to sexuality. Most recent research on sexuality suggests that people tend to fit into categories of sexuality rather than being different leanings of one orientation or another. Heterosexuals don't tend to have any homosexual leanings, homosexuals don't tend to have any heterosexual leanings, and bisexuals usually still favor one orientation over the other. Very few people are truly 50/50 as a bisexual.

You could argue that slavery created its own version of natural selection, although the breeding decisions of slaveowners are probably far less significant in today's population than something much more recent -- mate selection. Cultural priorities determine what is most desirable in a mate, so if a culture decides that high intelligence is the most desirable trait, people with that trait tend to breed the most. If the priority is on athletic ability, then the most athletic will breed the most. Intelligence does have a high amount of heritability, and black culture doesn't have the best record for prioritizing intelligence in mate selection, so....

Actually the book was off by perhaps no years or close. Think of it like a bible to extent, it's a representation without an exact time. The internet was developed in 1989, and made public in 1993. That's also approx. the period we sold out to China, Bezos, PROG-view etc.

It was the internet that advanced their goals. As a result of that and more, we now resemble much of the message & structure described in the book 1984.

Since the internet was developed in 1989, you can figure it required some years to reach development. Thus by some measure 1984 might be NUTS. Either way Orwell was a wise man and could foresee the future, at least with a warning.

PROGS accepted that warning and do what they do best, they made it a reality, similar 45 Declarations for Communist Takeover.
