I never heard this story before but what an inspiration. I'll have to check out the movie now. I also love Lamont's words at the end about no matter how badly you think that you got it, there's always somebody who has it way worse than you do.

The Mask came out in the early 90s and I remembered the movie The Elephant Man that came out in the 80s and thought at the time "well it could be worse".

The movie alludes to the fact that mother, portrayed by Cher, was a biker babe and a substance abuser. Was that a factor in her son's abnormalities? Anyway it's a credit to the real mom that she would give birth and raise and love a child with such birth defects.

And it's a really sad thing that we even have to point that out but considering that a lot of the world today isn't like that we have to.
