Police are, by definition, the only agency with the moral authority to use force to enforce laws passed by government.

They must remain a part of that government.

Prisons, however, are fair game and could very easily be privatized.

oh they must remain part of it but the PO that delivers many things to your private mail box should be open to anyone?...you get a small package that fits in the box,your prescriptions ,,,,the guy from joes delivery service see's it and takes it or checks or whatever......with 4-5 companies getting in there,you would never know who took it..........

Theft is illegal ... doesn't matter of the thief works for USPS, DHL, or FedEx.

And, these days, all packages are tracked at every point along the delivery chain by technology brought by private shipping companies, not The USPS.
