Jake was talking to two judges and said that the crime that turns the bookkeeping misdemeanor into a felony is "hiding information from voters".

That makes no sense to me. I thought that "Non-Disclosure Agreements" were always perfectly legal.

The third theory alleges that Trump intended to violate New York tax law by inflating and falsely characterizing the reimbursement to Cohen to manipulate its tax consequences."

1. The 1st two theories, ("theories" since Bragg won't officially specify them) are wrong since the USSC already said that there are no limits on contributing to your own campaign, i.e. its "free speech". So first off paying for an NDA is NOT a campaign contribution, its a private business transaction. The FEC and DOJ already looked at this and did not pursue.

2. How could Trump violate NY tax law by paying more in taxes? If he paid Stormy cash there would be much less tax paid.

So those are two more plausible "secret crimes" that Bragg could charge Trump with, in addition to "keeping info from voters" and not reporting a "campaign contribution" for the Stormy NDA.

A. What Trump did is at the very least a misdemeanor. Misdemeanors are CRIMES my friend. Often resulting in jail time for “regular” folks

B. What Trump did was done to hide the CRIMES that Cohen was convicted of.

That all by itself turns that misdemeanor into a felony.

The “underlying crime” need not be committed by the person charged. If it was committed to cover someone else’s crime… it becomes a felony
