An informative piece by Bruce Walker does a brilliant job of explaining the war being waged between two camps —— federalism versus nationalism:

Convincing voters that federalism and not nationalism is the answer to our problems is hard, but it must be done.

Nationalism versus Federalism
By Bruce Walker

Articles: Nationalism versus Federalism

I listed 26 approaches I use to define the antagonists. Every one of the thousands of messages I posted about government over 16 years can be stated in one of the sentences listed below. Mr. Walker’s piece is built around the ways federalists tore apart the Constitution; so I will begin with the obvious:

1. The US Constitution versus the federal government.

2. Sovereignty v. the United Nations.

3. Sovereignty v. global government.

4. Americans v. illegal aliens.

5, Americans v. open-borders.

6. Americans v. the XVI Amendment.

7. Producers v. parasites.

8. Americans v. the XVII Amendment.

9. Americans v. the US Senate.

10. Limited government v. democracy.

11. Americans v. making the world safe for democracy.

12. Americans v. nation-building by any name.

13. Individual liberties v. totalitarian government.

14. Americans v. priesthoods of every stripe.

15. Americans v. paying for political causes they disagree with.

16. A nation of laws v. a nation of lawyers.

17. Freedom v. the education industry.

18. Americans v. government propaganda.

19. Americans v. television.

20. Americans v. federal government bureaucrats.

21. Elitists v. elites.

22. Americans v. the presidency.

23. Americans v. fighting Peace Without Victory wars.

24. Americans v. the US Supreme Court.

25. Private property v. property taxes.

26. Americans v. the gun-grabbers.

Finally, federalists divide and conquer. Their technique stands out in all of the topics I elaborated on over the years. Bottom line: Ever one of the constituencies I’ve listed are natural allies in the war against a powerful enemy. Federalists will be defeated on the day allies fight together irrespective of the federal government’s power.

p.s. If moving Andrew Jackson to the back of the $20 bill is a done deal, it is only fair that Aaron Burr go up on the other side of Alexander Hamilton. After all, Burr did win!

p.p.s. It rankles knowledgeable Americans when they see a loser like Hamilton every time they whip out a sawbuck.

Speaking about a double-sawbuck:

. . . Michelle is part of the illiterate gang who ousted evil slave owner Andrew Jackson from the $20 bill without researching the philosophies escaped slave Harriet Tubman stood for. Wait until Obama, who misquoted MLK on his Oval Office rug, realizes Underground Railroad conductor Tubman was a devout Christian whose pistol-packing ways mirror Sarah Palin, not Maxine Waters.

Michelle’s Historically Black Attempt to Malign Mississippi

20. Americans v. federal government bureaucrats.
Anarchy and bureaucracy are virtual opposites, but they are also in a very real sense best friends that feed off each other in unexpected ways.

XXXXX

Anarchy is a state of disorder brought about by lack of government, whereas bureaucracy is a state of disorder brought about by too much government.

Although disorder would be considered a bad thing by most people, it is actually a benefit for those who know how to use it to gain power — and both bureaucrats and anarchists do. Maybe that’s why our Founding Fathers went to so much trouble to tether government to a specific and finite dimension.

COLUMN: Bureaucracy, anarchy and the lost Constitution

For years, I have been saying it this way:

Totalitarian government is one extreme. Anarchy is the other extreme. Limited government is the permanent center; it never moves. Flanders

When will journalists ever learn the difference between elitist and elite?

so how is it 'not' nationalism when the supreme court rules and the ruling must be applied unilaterally?
federalism (noun)

1. a. A system of government in which power is divided between a central authority and constituent political units. b. Advocacy of such a system of government.

2. Federalism. The doctrine of the Federalist Party.

To KokomoJojo: Federalism as it has been practiced by our government since 1913, and nationalism as originally intended in the Constitution (clearly enunciated limited government), are irreconcilable opposites. The federal government’s global government agenda since 1945 should make it obvious.

Where is Aaron Burr when you need him?

Nationalists believe that the winner takes all. This is true everywhere, even in Europe. They also believe that this includes taking your life too, federalist or other.

By the way, Europe would do a lot better with federalist so than nationalists. Too bad, Europe has already killed off all of its federalist so a 100 years ago.

To anotherlife: I cannot follow your conclusions. Federalism is big government implemented by Socialism/Communism in today’s world. Federalism left unchecked must will end with a one government world. Nationalism is the opposite.

America’s original form of nationalism provided the highest standard of living for the most people, while the rebirth of federalism in the 20th century lowered the standard of living for everyone except the tax dollar ruling class.

Interesting. Looks like modern federalism is different from the classical American federalism. The classical American federalism supports the self determination of every identity group in its principles.

Nationalism is bad, because it does nothing but create turf wars, out of which it derives national majorities, to rob everyone else, then uses that to go back to the turf war part of its cycle. Nationalism is what will eventually lead to a selective one world government, by creating and pushing country borders around, like they started with ww1. And if you are not on the selected list then you are history.

To anotherlife: America won two World Wars in the last century, and several small “conflicts”, but did not increase its territory by one inch. The definition of one government world evil starts with touchy-feely garbage that says Americans have a moral obligation to save the peoples of the world —— as the Socialist priesthood defines moral obligation.
by creating and pushing country borders around, like they started with ww1.
To anotherlife: WWI was fought between two colonial empires. President Wilson chose sides in a conflict that was none of America’s business. He mistakenly thought a League of Nations would end wars. His mistake is the foundation for today’s New World Order thinking.

NOTE: There would have been no Soviet Union, or Nazi Germany, or the United Nations, had Wilson remained neutral or at least sided with Germany.

I totally agree with this!

Socialists have always been dangerous at least in that they rewrite history and place blame and obligations on people. And yes, Wilson generated huge "mistakes" but I think he was manipulative or at least pushed so he made them on purpose. He should have left Austria-Hungary in place, and yes, he should have sided with Germany, the weaker side of the conflict, but his real goal was not stability but more war. Wilson's historic legacy on the long run is turning out to be that he manuvered the USA into the same trouble as Germany was maneuvered into for ww1.

Wilson thereby destroyed the truly federal countries of Europe, and replaced them with nationalist powers of turf war. Then the USA repeated this mistake again, by putting France back on the map after ww2. This is why I wrote that in Europe, federalism was a source of stability, and nationalism is evil. I begin to think, that we are now seeing a terminology inversion between Europe and America, as in many other matters as well.
