is such a thing as a free writing contest?
Everywhere I look there are fees to enter a contest...I understand this might help cover the fee paid to a winner..but I am not looking for that.
Does anyone know of a free fictional short story contest? Checking randomly on line does little...they want cc which I refuse to give out online anyway - even if I wanted to....

I haven't found any. One good resource for writing in general is Yahoo Groups. There's a great writers' group there (I believe it's just called 'writers online') that occassionally gets requests for short stories and reviews, etc.
