I’ll go up a couple levels.” Unbelievable. I don’t care if you’re driving yourself or someone else to the Emergency Room, you still want to get out and run in with them. We have the same forecast.

In other news, I really really really like maple syrup.

Molasses, too.
It's saying things like this that lead me to believe molasses and syrup would be very similar. They aren't!

I got molasses a couple of years ago because I had read it as a home remedy for reflux. I tried my first spoonful thinking it would be like drinking maple syrup. I was not pleased with what it actually tasted like.

I tried it on pancakes and waffles, even mixing it with maple syrup, to no avail. Eventually I started putting a little bit in a cup of coffee, which wasn't too horrible. Still, it is not my favorite home remedy (and I don't think it helped, either).
I think molasses is one of those things that is an acquired taste and is used more as a seasoning to enhance other flavors than it is normally in a way that it stands on its own. For instance I add a little to pinto beans--very little--and I use it to flavor baked beans and it works well in some bar-b-que sauce recipes. I have acquired the taste though and enjoy it on a lot of things, most especially on hot water cornbread.

Yes, something to be used with restraint, as a flavoring. I remember my mother using it when making baked beans. A recipe that seemed to take a couple of days.

I have always considered myself to be a failure because I just never got with the Seinfeld cult. I will watch it with others and more or less enjoy it, but I become bored fairly quickly with what to me seems like the sameness of it. And I never choose to watch it voluntarily when I can do my own surfing. I fully realize that I'm in a very small minority re that though.

BEAUTIFUL old house, and I do LOVE the old houses. They have character, and many are haunted.

But what's up with that funky grass? Somebody needs to tend to the lawn.

That house looks so similar to my grandmother's house in east Texas. Not really great memories for me there, but the house fascinated me. She had it chopped up into four sections and rented out three of them to boarders who shared a common bathroom, but it had as many nooks and crannies and mysterious hallways and stairways as a medieval castle. And as a young girl, it seemed that I had never quite explored it all. The grounds were equally fascinating to a young girl.

The house is long gone now--I think a library sits where it once was--but lots of imagery still stuck in my head.

I wouldn't put any faith in what someone who has never met either of you says, especially if will risk the relationship or damage it in any way. Go by what you know of her and your relationship; don't listen to other people.

funny molasses story. my friends parents owned a farmhouse up in northern VT. we would go up there for weekends on occasion and hang out. we went up there one winter and the house had been winterized. no running water. no heat. so we spent a frozen Friday night there. the next day we got some firewood and at least had a somewhat heated living room to stay in when I say cold, I'm talking -20's Saturday, were looking for something to do so we figure we'd do a little shooting, there were all these wooden barrels stacked up in the back. we set some cans up on top of them an started shooting. even tapped a few paper targets to them. noting really seemed to happen to them. at least nothing we noticed. well that spring when his parents were up at their house they noticed there barrels were oozing all this black goo. turned out those barrels were full of molasses that they had made and put up. we never noticed it because molasses doesn't run at -20.

LOL, no. I'm just a nosy old broad who keeps maps in her head. Which reminds me, I don't know what part of the country you hail from either.
