I told him "I'm never pro-divorce...but if she can't handle scaling back income for a time, what's she gonna do if you ever become bedridden? Or worse?"

I'm not either (pro-divorce), but geeze.. Generally, when something happens to one, the other is more than willing to pick up the slack a little... Sad, and pathetic.
