You're Aren't Gay Enough

"Three bisexual men are suing a national gay-athletic organization, saying they were discriminated against during the Gay Softball World Series held in the Seattle area two years ago.

The three Bay Area men say the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance in essence deemed them not gay enough to participate in the series."

Gays have a problem with bisexuals. It's weird. Found this:

Both straights and gays are afraid that the bisexual will suddenly decide they are either gay or straight, thus abandoning their significant other (and respective community).

Sort of like Dr. Spock being half-vulcan and half-human...neither the humans nor the vulcans completely trusted him, until Kirk came around.

"Facebook lesbians". Great, yet another catagory of sexuality to track. But the article has a point.

Women who demonstrate a willingness to engage in sexual conduct with other women do not lose their appeal to men -- in fact many men find such conduct extremely arousing. Men do not have this "advantage". Women are not usually bowled over with lust watching two guys suck face. And the men involved do not usually have better chances to date more women.

Both these trends/social constraints are unfortunate. Women and men should be free of social pressure to find their sexual nature, whether it is gay, straight, bi or some other version. The way things are now, we have evidence of many more lesbians and bisexual women than really exists, and far less evidence of gay or bisexual men than really exists.

In my view, 99.9% of human adults are somewhere on a spectrum of sexuality between gay and straight. They can feel a sexual urge towards a member of their own sex, a member of the opposite sex, etc. Very few (if any) humans are literally 100% straight or gay.

The more behavior matches emotion and desire, the happier everyone is. But it should be real emotion, not one manufactured for the cameras.

BTW, who are all these hateful gay men and who are they hating on? I've never met one.

Go to a local gay bar and ask how they feel about, say, the Catholic Church.

How can the league claim not to discriminate, but their whole policy
discriminates by sex (restricting teams to only 2 heterosexual members?).

Ironic that the military is criticized for their "don't ask, don't tell" policy.
And look how these 3 men are treated.
Interrogated in front of a panel of 25 people.
Not gay, don't play?

Funny, if these guys were outted as gay, they'd be counted in by being out.
But since they were outted as "not gay," they're counted out because they're not out?

Seriously, there is a long established trend of discrimination in the gay activist community against bi's and also against gays who didn't look or act gay enough. Both fit into the mainstream too much, and did not challenge the norms. I have activist friends who have dealt with this as commonplace; and heard of the ongoing conflicts on bi-net where this constantly came up, including issues between lesbians and gays etc. There is a strong bias of exclusion purely for political image.

As for the gay softball team, makes you wonder
if they count the Innings or the Outings?
And if the bisexual batters "swing both ways"?

Not all of us do...but there are those who do. Sad, really.

"Facebook lesbians." I think I've met one or two. Most illuminating.
