Hello ladies and gents. I'm neither Democrat nor Republican, socialist nor capitalist and most of all I'm really against representative democracy.

I support this piece of legislation with my heart and soul. I wish to spread the word and dispel the myths about direct democracy as it is proposed in its current form--which can become a reality if enough people get involved. This is the only way we'll have real change in our system.

Rest assured, I'll be chiming in on plenty of issues on the board since it seems to have a diverse group of people here discussing (although few are ever likely to be swayed). What are my political views? They're pretty much all over the place.

Direct democracy won't work on anything larger then a small community. Just like communism doesn't work on a large scale or socialism.

There is legislation now that we could enact that would actually work. NI4D.us [Enter URL]. IF you give that site a look, you'll see that's it's not entirely what people have made it out to be. In fact, we would only be partner's with our so-called "representatives". Like I said, there are a lot of myths about direct democracy. I don't see why anyone with a good working brain wouldn't support it.

So, I'm a Ron Paul asswipe, eh? I would likely vote for him if given the choice to vote for him versus Obama. But the Republican party in general is too stupid to nominate Paul. And the general public on both sides is generally too apathetic. Anyway, Mike Gravel would be my President. Truthfully, the whole point of being a direct democracy advocate is because I don't really trust any politicians. Although I do think Ron Paul is the lessor of the evils, so-to-speak.

By the way? An Amendment would be required BEFORE any law could allow Direct "democracy" and I don't see that happening any time soon.

Just look at the sorry State California is in with their budget because of "direct democracy".

Any registered voter can vote for the legislation, or amendment.

It says I am unable to post URLs until after my 15th post. But wouldn't having the people writing our laws represent our interests better than the representatives?

Because we already have a ‘good working’ Republic.

Working for who? More like a Banana Republic. If you think about it, representative democracy goes hand-in-hand with "Republic". Does it not? Do you think the representatives within the Republic are representing your interests well?

Um, no – we are a Constitutional Republic, the citizens of which are subject only to the rule of law, not men, as men are incapable of ruling justly – and in particular, ‘directly.’

What makes the citizenry incapable?
