I get so tired of these USMB right wingers pointing to Detroit and making a racial issue out of it.

Detroit once had the highest per capita of any large city in the US. More than 2 million people lived there. While jobs were slowly being drained to other states, it was the devastating years from 2001 to 2008 that really put the nail in the coffin. Not only did middle class whites leave, but so did middle class blacks. From 2 million to a just reported LESS than 7000,000. A loss of two thirds.

And nationwide, millions of jobs were moved to China. The Chamber of Commerce put together seminars nationwide to teach people how to outsource to China.

Foreign companies can contribute to the Chamber of Commerce’s 501c(6) account, which the organization uses to fund political ads. (from the last election, we know the Chamber of Commerce gave to the GOP 10 to 1 over Democrats. Try to figure out why.)

So Republicans insist we need to end democracy in these cities because many of their policies have ruined them. That means they know how to "save" them? Just saying that sounds ludicrous. And for whites who think they are "safe"? Think again. 4 of the 10 cities targeted have white majorities.

And the worst part, the short time Republicans have been undermining democracy in Michigan, the EM program has been plagued with scandal. Managers giving themselves huge salaries. One company contracts were funneled to recently had a 26 count indictment from Justice Department. That's just the beginning.

Does anything think a bunch of white Republicans care about a bunch of poor black people? Remember "let him die"? "Feed the poor and they will breed"? And look what the GOP did in 8 years under Bush. Pretty much raped the country. Yes, and that means poor white Republicans were also slammed.

We don't solve problems in this country by taking away democracy. And we don't solve problems by blaming poor people who have been royally screwed. So Republicans please correct me. Does it say in the constitution it's OK to abolish democracy is things aren't "working out"?

Interesting that all of those cities in that graph align themselves politically with Democrats every single time. The Democrats must really be doing something wrong to cause businesses to exit their cities faster than a rat jumps from a sinking ship.

Oh... But that mass exodus from all of these Democrat majority cities, is strictly because of white republican racism. Yep, people are leaving democrat cities because of an incredibly tiny minority of racist white people who are forcing them out. What a fabulously stupid OP.

She[America] is of no use anymore.

The reality is that those cities have been decimated by the Blue Social Model of big government spending and lavish non-economically justified union pay and pensions.

The Democrat hometeam (you know who they are), made it a point to destroy Detroit BECAUSE is was the city most representative of American Free Enterprise

I don't see a lot of the racial issue commented on when talking about Detroit.
More like it's a Democrat leadership issue.

But we have quite a few lefties here who see racism as an explanation for all their failures.

Which republicans have said they want to 'end democracy'? Or are you lying.... again?

I hate having to explain things to you because the peroxide has damaged the roots all the way down to the cerebellum.

When a city is taken over by an EM, the elected public officials are bypassed. They have no say. You couldn't go to your alderman and complain there are rats or your garbage isn't being removed or your street lights are out. Because there is no alderman. Not really. He has no voice. You have no voice. You are no longer living in a democracy. It's been handed over to and EM.

This is a dumb question. Did you finally get that? OK, you can take the dazed expression off your face. Or can you?

dean is just pissed hes still stuck in some demcoratic urban shithole while the rest of us have moved to the burbs.....oh well....

That's just stupid. What part of "two thirds of the people, the jobs and the middle class have left" didn't you understand? Do you have to be dense to be a Republican? Is it required to be part of the party?

If Democrats were doing that to Republicans, can you imagine the outrage? Remember, what goes around comes around.

We already know you live in a trailer you are still trying to pay off.

Classic Liberal MO at work here.

Detroit has been one party ruled (Dems) for generations, they fuck it up into bankruptcy and they blame Booooosh.

wait a minute, you're pissed that Synder appointed an emergency manager?

After the public sector unions ( with the help of every demcoratic mayor, well except the last one, David Bing, who could not get them to bargain for real) et al have sucked the $$$ and life out of the city?

oh and hey dean don't worry help is on the way via the Messiah!!!

oh wait that was September 2011....

here, read, learn-

Union bosses insisted the DWSD (average compensation: $86,000) needs more, not fewer, such unionized employees, a view associated with a broad spectrum of thinkers from Jimmy Hoffa to the Keynesians running the United States. The DWSD has more than twice as many employees per gallon of water pumped as that other paragon of Midwestern governance, Chicago. An independent report said four out of five employees in the bloated department were redundant and discovered a thicket of union regulations driving up costs. Plumbers complained that, due to union work rules, they had to wait to fix pipes until duly authorized “operators” came along first to shut them off.

The Detroit Federation of Teachers, which enjoys rich pay packages (corrected for purchasing power, Michigan teachers are the best paid in the nation, reported the Mackinac Center for Policy Policy), would do the UAW proud. Its employees pay only ten percent of the cost of their insurance premiums. While they take extravagant numbers of sick days or personal days — 8 per teacher — they also cash in on “unused sick days” to the tune of $14.5 million a year. What other industries are so surprised when you aren’t sick that they pay you a bonus? Then again, we’re talking about a group that paid people to quit — $4.1. million in “termination bonuses” were handed out to teachers’ union members in 2010-2011. And last December the city inexplicably sent out archaic “longevity bonuses” ranging from $150 to $750 depending on years of service for non-union municipal employees, even though the benefit was removed for unionized employees in 2009.

It's only of only two things: the Koch Brothers really do pay Deany to post here and embarrass Liberals, or he's a complete lunatic; there is no third option

Okay, so where does this prove republicans want to end democracy?

Are you seriously implying that an event like appointing an emergency manager indicates the effect of that action on local political sway is a reasonable barometer of the tens of millions of people who would identify themselves as republican?

You seriously lack any reasonable argument to stand on if you are attempting to lean on such a ridiculous premise to argue against.
