Young Women's Pay Exceeds Male Peers'

It's not just the U.S. As much as rdean would like to blame the Republicans for everything, in his preferred system of socialist utopia, 1/3 of all men in England are also living with mummy and daddy.

A study has found one in three men aged between 20 and 40 is still living with their parents. This compares with one in five women of the same age.

It also emerged that one in four men who have flown the nest has kept a fully-furnished bedroom at their parents' home, just in case.

But just one in five girls has kept their childhood room after moving out.

When you are no longer living some place, you don't "keep" a bedroom there. Parents keep it for you. It's their choice.

You keep providing evidence of your ability to read, and very little evidence of comprehension..... read the fucking quote. This bit: A study has found one in three men aged between 20 and 40 is still living with their parents. This compares with one in five women of the same age.

As per usual, you see what you want to see. What a fucking moron.... you really do make it too easy to ridicule you, rdrool. Go to Toys R Us and get a game.

But the problem is NOT females earning more -- the problem is males giving up and not even trying, while society continues to drive girls into greater achievement, greater competitiveness, too, combined with severe reduction in parental direct contact and influence, especially MALE parent role modeling.

This is the only point that I may quibble a little with, and it's minor really. You're right, girls are being driven to greater achievement than boys. And the boys are giving up. But they are giving up because they are repeating institutional stimuli to quit. It's not coming totally from the schools though, it is coming from their peers most of all. The boys who HAVE given up are applying great pressure on the rest of the boys to live DOWN to the lowest common denominator because they have been allowed to slide. This is a two pronged problem. This is why I've seen kids who are normally well spoken begin to deteriorate into 'ebonics', and I'm not talking just black kids. I'm talking white, asian, purple, green. Their friends drag them down like anchors around their necks.

Of course, this is also due to the same problems you address with absent parents, and hostile schools. They're told to look to sports heroes and not captains of industry. Rockstars and not inventors. They are being dumbed down into the idiocracy because it's easier and you can always get some other mule to pull the cart.

Nancy Kress's Sci Fi novel "Beggars in Spain" addresses this type of thought by asking similar questions of what happens when a culture hits the end of permissibility of an indigent class and a working class?... among others of course. When the workers are no longer required to support the indigent, what happens? We, via pop culture, political bias and over-permissiveness have been slowly creating this indigent class who learns JUST enough skill to consume, but no drive to produce, filled with the expectation they will be "taken care of".

Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with young ladies finally earning equal or better pay. About time really for parity. Now maybe it'll get the NOW nags to shut the fuck up about being lower wage earners. They accomplished what they wanted. Can they disband NOW now?

Shared mutual partnership between older and next generation being impossible, of course.

The earning power of young single women has surpassed that of their male peers in metropolitan areas around the U.S., a shift that is being driven by the growing ranks of women who attend college and move on to high-earning jobs.

In 2008, single, childless women between ages 22 and 30 were earning more than their male counterparts in most U.S. cities, with incomes that were 8% greater on average, according to an analysis of Census Bureau data

Between 2006 and 2008, 32.7% of women between 25 and 34 had a bachelor's degree or higher, compared with 25.8% of men, according to the Census.

This is what happens when you delegitimize education. I suspect women are less likely to be swayed by peer pressure against higher education.

In terms of politics, you it will probably be more likely that these women will become liberal and democrat while these men will stick with conservative and the Republican party. Statistics have shown that people with education tend to lean liberal and Democrat.

The ramifications are that fewer women will marry before having children. Fewer children. More dissatisfied young men. More divorce.

The final outcome is that more right wing men will eventually see that education is a "good thing". This will deplete the Republican Party, making them even more desperate and marginalized or will bring much needed intellectualism to a political party that has passed from center right into far right extremism.

WTF?

Are you are trying to blame right wing Republicans who hate education because women earn more money than men?

You have just officially said the dumbest thing in the history of the universe. All other contenders might as well stay at home, because this one will never be surpassed in stupidity.

A superior point about peer pressure forcing male give-up-itis.

Certainly, Dr. Cosby agrees -- and so would Piaget.
