You Taught The GOP A Lesson: You Want Higher Taxes So They Will Grant Your Wish

The top 10% have 90% of the wealth. I find it hard to believe that raising taxes on them won't solve our problems.

When the rich paid their fair share, we had balanced budgets.

So how is bringing in 80 billion a year, for 10 years, going to help to balance our budget?
We are borrowing over a trillion each year.
We borrow 1.4 trillion each year. That comes out to about 28 billion per week.
That means that an extra 80 billion a year would pay for less than three weeks.
It is not going to balance the budget.
The Dem's are doing what they always do. Let's raise the Taxes and deal with the cuts later.
Then they never deal with the cuts.

How does it work? The power of perception. If we're working towards solving the problem, people feel better and spend more, creating more jobs, putting less demand on social services and generating more in tax revenue to further lower the deficit. Why do supposed free market conservatives have to be reminded of this on a daily basis? :eusa_eh:

The only perception I get is of progressives envy of people with more than them, and proposing solutions that dont fix the problem.

Probably because no matter how many times you repeat that used diaper full of regurgitated Indian food, it isn't true.

Be proud of what you did. You taught the GOP that you don't want low taxes. You don't care if the Democrats raise your taxes and spend it faster than they can steal it from you. So I figure they're out to give you what you wanted.

How does it feel to teach those Republicans a lesson?

We taught the republicans that you can't have it both ways

You can't cut taxes and increase spending then complain about debt

$16 trillion in debt will not go away by itself. You need to raise taxes across the board and cut spending across the board. We need to relook our global military role and ask whether we can afford it, cut back on welfare, close tax deductions

I guess it's no use arguing with someone that wants to be the on the menu of Washington's dinner table.

Bullshit (or maybe only willful ignorance) and little more than a talking point. The counterpoint from the left might be that the very wealthy feel entitled to their wealth and consider the poor or less fortunate to be morally weak and deserve no better.

It's as I posted above, a lack of empathy, a lack of curiosity and a failure to critically exam themselves and the ideology they hold sacrosanct which plagues the GOP and the conservative movement. Well, that and avarice.

Watching a pussy like you cry like a little bitch is reward enough for me. Both parties are out to lunch fiscally. It has been that way for nearly two generations of lawmakers and it will not change anytime until we change the rules of Congress.

In the mean time, it is particularly delightful to see you go a bit more around the bend with each passing day.

How do those poll numbers look now? Still think Romney has a chance? Beeotch.

Oh yearh, scoreboard.

If you really think the GOP is going to be stupid enough to raise taxes on the middle class because the rich will be finally paying their fair share, you're delusional.

So 60% or more is not a fair share when half of you pay no income taxes?

Who is delusional?

Let's assume you are one of the folks that won the lottery.

You're told when you present your winning ticket that you only get to keep a small portion of the $550 million dollar cash prize. Uncle Sam says you aren't entitled to be wealthy because you didn't earn it. They instead have you sign a piece of paper saying you are giving your winnings to the government to help pay off the debt and they thank you for your generous contribution.

I am. I'd support a bill adding a 10% raise in the income tax owed by everyone for the next ten years or until the Congress can produce a viable, fair (as in progressive) and comprehensive system of tax reform.

Of course obama is pulling the wool over his sheep's eyes, they say, yeah tax them rich people..Like that will DO ANYTHING to tackle the problems he has now HELP CREATE

The reason you find it hard to believe that raising taxes on the high income earners won't solve our problems is because you either don't understand math or have not looked at the numbers. Annual Federal outlays are now running at $1.3 Trillion. Increasing the tax rate on the top annual income earners will net the Federal government $80 billion.

Do the math and see how much of the problem you have solved. My bet is that you will won't even put a 10% dent into the problem. Perhaps the high income earners are still not paying their fair share? Why not tax them at 100% and see what impact that has.

The problem is more about spending (outlays) vs. the top 10 percent controlling 90 percent of the weatlh. Class warfare and Socialist dreams are not going to get US out of debt.

Why should anyone care what you say? Nobody regurgitates more shit than you. All you've got are dreams of a world that can't possibly exist, given human nature. At least I've got history on my side. What have you got besides trying to foist another "ism" on the the world? Had enough, thanks.

Well America voted for redistribution of wealth, can't wait to hear the excuses of why there's even fewer jobs after they're done. Undoubtedly it will still be Boooooosssssheees fault.

Wow, finally a progressive shows thier true motives. Its envy pure and simple.

And what happens to the person who SELLS the dressage horse to the rich person? Or the stable that would care for it? Or the farm that grew the fodder that fed it?

I guess they can go on the dole, or look for another job.

They could all get honest jobs? that would be horrible!

Sorry, I guess I have a problem when the Romneys spend 70K a year on a dressage horse, and then say a working family shouldn't get Medicaid because they make a mere 30K.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7_EJLBU400]"Rafalca Romney" -- 30 second TV ad - YouTube[/ame]

Raising horses is not an honest job? Running a stable is not an honest job? What is a good prolitarian job according to you? But i guess to pay 10 federal burecrats $120k a year to administer multiple redundant federal programs is a much better use of our money.

and the envy keeps getting worse and worse.

For people like JoeB131 the only honest jobs are union jobs.
According to people like JoB131, about 88% of Americans don't have an honest job.

Yeah, they both suck.

One spends like there's no tomorrow and the other spends but then tries to pay it back without ruining the economy.

I can see we have a clear choice.

Vote for Ron Paul. That'll solve everything.

The stage was set when those in Congress were given the nations purse strings via the federal income tax and subsequent usurpation of state rights. Then along came LBJ with his great society and wars abroad and the next thing you know they want to get off the gold standard so they no longer have to balance the books.

All fiat schemes end the same way, the only question becomes, how long can they keep the scam up and running?

This reminds me of the attempt Congress made to garnish support for giving trillions of tax payer dollars to corporate Amerca. The country was against it unitl they saw their retirement go down the drain, then they had a change of heart.

As for this crisis, it was 100% manufactured by Congress, and the sad part is it is just another fleecing of America, only, it was planned.

Never let a good crisis go to waste, that is the philosphy of the collectivist and is why crisis is either manufactured or otherwise.

Now fork it over America, or else!!!

Please give a precise definintion of "fair share" so we can all know how much people are supposed to pay in taxes. Please also tell me how in particular taxatrion is about "fairness" and not about funding the government.

Also please explain how a feel good 80 billion dollar per year increase in revenue (projected) will help erase a 1,000 billion per year decfict (pretty much a given)

Do you propose cutting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and privatizing each?

What might be the effect of such a policy change?

And yet you could confiscate all the wealth and it would only last the govt 6 week. It's all about the class warfare.
