You Repuplicans Counting On Filibuster

You have American patriots who realized that four more years of the idiotic Republican agenda would destroy our nation.

Ha! No. That was about as brutal and clear a rib breaking bodyshot as I've seen in awhile. I laughed all the way to work.

That's called getting S-E-R-V-E-D ... knocked down and the boots taken to you.

LOL

Bitter, bitter, bitter.

Most of the members of your party on this board stated they only voted for McCain as a knee jerk reaction to vote against Democrats. They never liked McCain, couldn't articulate or defend his policies, and the only reason republicans have even voted in the last three presidential elections was to record a knee jerk reaction against the Democratic nominee.

Try again. Nobody on here admitted to any such thing. Most conservatives PERIOD voted for McCain as a vote against OBAMA, not the Democrats. More than a few I know would have gone with Clinton.

Then where's MY friggen rep? :eusa_eh:

People seem to forget that there are 4-6 Democrats who are fairly conservative. They will vote against the Democrats if they lean too far left.

No they will not, they won't have the guts,, you see what happens to people when they disagree with Democrats doncha? Newp, it will go the way of the left wing radicals for at least four years,, then we will see

Considering most people that voted for Obama had NO IDEA what he stood for other the fleeting "Change" I suspect a lot of Independents are gonna wake up to his destruction of the electrical grid, the gas wars and his trillions in new debt and say " Damn, I did not know he was gonna do that". Again the press did us NO favors by not vetting him and not publishing things like his little " I will bankrupt the coal fired plant" comments.

You're bitterness is showing. Nope, you were wrong. The polls were right, unlike 2000 and 2004. Obama was well ahead nationally and won a bigger mandate than Bush did in 2000 or 2004.

Things will begin improving in the summer of 2009. And who will get credit for it? Yup, you guessed it, Obama. So, be prepared to watch eight years of Barack and Joe. Suffer, as we had to suffer through eight years of George and Dick. :eusa_whistle:

I think OJs point wasn't to argue but rather to speculate how cooperative the Republicans who will be up for re-election in 2010 might be in order to keep their jobs.

I think it's a logical assumption that they'll find themselves being a lot more cooperative with the new administration than they would've otherwise been.

No, he was gloating.

And cooperative has nothing to do with it. They'd damn well BETTER filibuster if they want their constituents (and us in the middle) to vote for them. A single party rule is no good for this country, see 2000-2006.

Evidently the last two elections (2006 and 2008) have been historic - not since 1932 have the dems won such margins back to back.

Unless OJ thinks the human race has just changed its fundamental nature overnight, there is no way in hell the dems will do well in 2010. The republicans have lost most of their dead wood. Most of the corrupt ones are now in jail. Good riddance. the ones that are still around are mostly lean and mean. If they get back to fundamental principles and generate a message with broad appeal, which should not be too hard, they will do well in 2010.

Hey Murf...maybe you didn't get the memo but Obama won with 53% of the popular vote. If Bush's victory with barely 1% in 2004 was a mandate then I sure as shit would consider an almost 7% victory a mandate.

51,52,53... who cares? At the bottom line, you might consider 6 or 7 percent a mandate, but I sure as hell don't.

You know, there's a BIG difference in this particular election, one we haven't really seen before. How many times did you hear the word "socialist" or "marxist" during the last election? Yeah, your guy might have pulled off a win, but how long do you think that's gonna last when he starts trying to put his leftist agenda into place and confirms those epitaphs?

We're awake now. ;)
And you libs are mistaken when you believe that we're just suffering from a case of "sour grapes". This might've been a football game to you, where you root for one team's jersey over another, but to us... freedom itself is on the line. So no, 47, 48, 49 percent... it's just semantics when you're dealing with people who understand that Liberty as they knew it is threatened.

Obama WILL fail. He can't do anything else. Because at his core, he doesn't understand this country. He doesn't understand that "issues", while important, aren't at it's heart. What's at it's heart is an abiding love of freedom.

In 1984 Regan Pulled 58% or the Vote and in 1980 he pulled 50%. What are you guys going to do if Obama wins in 2012 with 61% of the vote. Oh, I know, Succeed.

If he can pull 61% of the vote by 2012... that'll mean he's either changed his views on Marxism, or that the gulags are working.

More bullcrap from retired. He called for clean coal technology.

You can have clean coal without bankrupting them. Sound bite. Sound bite.

BP met all the so called regulations and increased its profit. It's the same thing. It can be done and they won't go broke.

We could be getting 50 mpg right now if they hadn't listened to your nay saying back in 72 and maybe we wouldn't be bailing out the auto industry.

Dude..does someone have to slap you across the face with a fact for it to register? Obama himself said that someone could build a coal fired plant and under his cap and trade plan it would bankrupt them. And interestingly enough, he plans the same old Democrat routine for funding his "green" energy projects. He plans to fine heavily to discourage carbon emissions while counting on those fines to fund his plans. He also plainly states that his cap and trade policies will necessarily cause energy prices to sky rocket. That's ok tho, because he says once we buy new appliances and change our lightbulbs it'll all be cool. Check the links and you can see AND hear Obama make his case.

Obama has been sucking pretty hard on Liebermann. I wonder if it will continue if the dems do indeed get their 60.

Nope, apparently they will only be able to get 59 since a Republican got elected this week. Filibuster it is.

How do you articulate the policies of Hope and Change?

Mine too Willow... then in 2010 there really will be a sweeping out of the Cons in Washington

you see how their antics have helped them so far don't you? keep wishing for their continued bad behavior... it only works in the Dems favor :eusa_angel:

Why is it bad behavior to not go along with every whim of the Dems. I don't remember the Dems, when they were the minority, going along with the Repubs. So if they honestly vote their conscience and it doesn't go along with Democrats, it is just bad behavior or being a sore loser. We need to look at the issues, not the parties when it comes time for them to vote.
In todays world, to be blinded by partisanship is a pathway to ruin.

The Teddy Roosevelt syndrome... Political candidates do what they have to in lower levels to promote their careers and when they finally achieve high office the go to their core beliefs. Teddy Roosevelt was a child of the Big Trusts of the 1890's. He used their support to gain office and once there, he torpedoed them all.

Obama came up through the left wing Chicago political machine. He played on his "blackness" and maintain all the right relationships to advance his career. One of the great liberating life experiences of getting elected President, is one can now bring their REAL agenda to bear. Often we see Teddy Roosevelt's emerge. We see it in the Supreme Court nominations and elsewhere where these people surprise and stun folks.

From all appearances, Barak Obama appears to be, in reality, a center-right Black man. He idolizes conservative black men like Colin Powell but played his far left supporter to get him where he is. Now he's pulling a Teddy Roosevelt and alientating the far left that thought he was going to be their savior and bring secular-progressive socialism to the United State. how pathetically, sadly mistaken they all were. And now they have a "defacto Republican" in the white house, much like Bill Clinton.
