It's called being prepared to defend one's country...corny as that sounds to the pussies around these campuses today.

Oh...the comment about college students being deferred simply meant while they were active students making passing grades. As soon as they graduated...they were drafted.

Admirable Skills for Someone in Active Duty, the Reserves, or the National Guard I guess. I wouldn't know. You might argue that Countries like Israel, putting Everyone through Military Service has it's advantages. That is true. Should times here become so desperate, I might change my position. Real Threat from Invasion, would turn me around on that. Short of that, no. Do you remember back when we had Civil Defense? We do lack in Preparedness today, be it Natural Event or whatever. It is always good to be prepared.

Are you really surprised by that? You would not try to protect your own, given the opportunity? George was trained in Air Defense against Potential Soviet Invasion.
