You have to admit, "Fox news is brilliant".

I was watching MSNBC and CNN last night. They would play a portion of the president's speech and then discuss the merits. I have to say, I agreed with much of what Obama said. Except about the part where we should be working together because we need to support each other. I think Republicans have made it pretty clear how much they support this country.

So I became curious and switched to Fox. How would they spin this, I wondered?

Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. For the hour or so I watched, they played the president's speech, but CUT THE AUDIO. Then, Republicans would talk about, "He wants to raise YOUR taxes. His "socialist agenda". And every other talking point Republicans have been practising for the last three years."

See? They never had to answer to anything he said because the cut the audio. It was a brilliant piece of malicious propaganda. Truly an organization Republicans and right wingers can be proud of. Congrats!

Fox was trying to appeal to the lip readers in their audience

Im sure MSNBC and CNN were quite accurate and unbiased in their coverage.

Brilliant propagandists, you mean?

Well, given their audiences overhelming ignorance on pretty much every subject you can name, it doesn't take much to fool fools..

i think it just further illustrates what fox news has realized long ago. its audience is less interested in hearing the news and more interested in being told how to think.

Well, undoubtedly they did better than FOX. That's just a given. Sure FOX is popular, but then so were pet rocks. Hear of many people bragging about having one today?

You have to admit, The Washington Post is Brilliant! They watched the speech and then used the actual text of it to comment on.

"Obamas Budget Speech Has Partisan Tone":
Obama’s budget speech carries partisan tone - The Washington Post
It was billed as President Obama’s big speech on reducing the federal budget deficit. But the Wednesday afternoon address sounded at times like the speech he did not give when he launched his reelection campaign last week.
Without detailing his exact view of how he would change Medicare, he cast the GOP proposal to convert the program into one in which people get vouchers to buy insurance as a plan that would “end Medicare as we know it.”
Even as he savaged the GOP proposal, Obama was less than specific about his own. He did not say exactly how he would reform how corporations are taxed, what he would do to achieve a simpler tax system or which defense programs he would cut. On Social Security, he not only didn’t announce a proposal but would not say whether one was likely to be included in the final legislation.
See? You don't have to listen to any of Obamas speeches because the text of it is always available afterwards. That way you can see what he actually said rather than what some asshole Liberal hack spins it to be.

V.P. "Slow Joe" Biden has heard this shit so many times he can't even stay awake for it anymore.

Actually, Obama's speech was semi delusional. He said "we could work together" when white wing Republicans want him destroyed. He keeps thinking Republicans care about the elderly, the disabled and the middle class. What a hoot. No insurance company is going to give insurance to people 70 or 80 years old. It's the reason why those programs were started in the first place.

Remember the last election? Republicans calling the unemployed "hobos and drug users"? Andre Bauer saying the poor are like animals? Feed them and they breed?

Remember that Obama extended the Bush tax cuts because Republicans were holding millions of unemployed hostage? Remember if the rich didn't get their "cut", the unemployed wouldn't get their benefits?

It was only a few months ago. Not nearly enough time to "forget".

Seniors were the biggest supporters of the GOP in the last two elections. Wonder how they vote in the next presidential election?

Unfortunately his concept of "working together" requires the impoverishment of the middle class, and the flight of the wealthy so that the US is left with the lowest common denominator, those left to eke out a miserable existence on the welfare tit.

By moving the tax burden to the middle class, clearly what Republicans are doing, THAT requires the impoverishment of the middle class. How can Republicans defend this unless they have no heart and no soul?

I hate to break it to you but the tax burdens are most often imposed by the Dems.

Just wondering.

Obama mentioned one of the core beliefs, or something, as being broadband.

When did broadband become a core need for anyone?

Keep in mind, this is one of the things he's going to spend your money on when cable TV is doing it now.

Why do I need to have others explain what Obama said?

Why am I not surprised that rdean does need others to 'splain it?
