It appears that when people buy into an ideology and a person with all their heart, they eschew fundamental curiosity, they lose the capacity for honest, critical thinking, they question virtually nothing, they operate primarily on emotion, and forgive/ignore anything that person says or does or promises.

As we have already seen with the current President. Now we're just seeing it on the other end.
