DeLay was elected House Majority Leader after the 2002 midterm elections, and compelled House Republicans to unite to an unprecedented degree, especially in support of President George W. Bush's agenda.

To all of you Republicans that have distance yourselves from GW Bush, please try to remember the 6 long years you all went along with him on 100% of the time. If you didn't, who were we arguing with all these years?

And tell us, who were the good republicans from 2000-2006?

So you say McCain only voted with Bush 90% of the time? Does that make him a maverick? No, and here's why:

Employing a method known as "catch and release," DeLay allowed centrist or moderately conservative Republicans to take turns voting against controversial bills. If a representative said that a bill was unpopular in his district, then DeLay would ask him to vote for it only if his vote were necessary for passage; if his vote were not needed, then the representative would be able to vote against the party without reprisal.[citation needed]

So Republicans, please don't try to distance yourselves from Bush. If you leave George Bush, you must leave the entire party. Otherwise, start naming the Republicans from 2000-2006 that did a good job.

Ahh yes, does this mean YOU will be leaving the democratic party since they practice this also? Maybe you MISSED the story about Pelosi and the new Chief of Staff for the White House?

You are an idiot, a Partisan hack and a mental midget. But do keep shooting yourself in the foot with idiotic posts like this.

Let me know when you leave the Democratic party retard.

Does this mean Dems who didn't like Jimmy Carter must leave their party?

But you must be onto a trend with all the growth of independent voters who think both parties are full of crap.

Dude, I've been calling you guys out on that move too. "both parties are full of crap".

How convienent after 8 years of your party consistently being full of crap.

Anyways, you missed my point here. In all the arguments I have with guys like you and Skull, you try either put all the blame on Bush or you want the Dems to share blame.

I seriously think you have amnesia. You have forgotten what the GOP did from 2000-2006. Did you read the part where it said Delay compelled House Republicans to unite to an unprecedented degree.

I don't think you understand what they mean by UNPRECIDENTED.

And what the GOP did to this country was UNPRECIDENTED.

So I will not let you put this economy on just GW or put it on the Dems. That would be great for you. And probably easy to do, seeing as how most people don't even remember the Hammer and how much damage he did to our democracy. Now PLEASE defend him. I'm sick of you guys distancing yourselves from Bush and trying to differentiate between Bush GOP and Conservatives. THERE IS NO FUCKING DIFFERENCE!

You are all Bushies. Right wing neo cons.

Did you name some good Republicans between 2000-2006 or are you drawing a blank? Vetter, Abramoff, Nay, Foley, Craig, Stevens, McCain, etc.

Your entire leadership was corrupt. The GOP that remain are still corrupt. And so the new ones you elect in 2010 will be quickly corrupted, if they aren't already.

You have forgotten what the GOP did from 2000-2006.

No, I think you are.

The GOP Pres/Congress gave you socialized medicine with the medicare drug bill, increased funding for AIDS relief in Africa, the No Child dept of ed expansion. These Socialist programs were completely in line with the liberal Dem agenda.

Just because you've been herded like a sheep into believing whichever Democrat talking point you've just read doesn't mean everyone else has. But those of us with brains don't buy into either party's official lines, not everything is a Dem vs GOP issue. Time for you to start thinking for yourself.

So are blue dog Democrats going along with Pelosi?

See, that's how government is supposed to work. Each Senator/Rep goes to washington and represents what his/her constituents want.

What Bush/Rove/Delay did for the last 8 years went too far. Voting party ideology. I think they call it collusion.

Anyways, you'll see the Dems don't agree on everything 100% of the time. In fact it bugs me because usually the ones who are wrong are the blue dogs. They have to answer to southern red neck voters, so they can't be as progressive as they would like.

We're just glad they are democrats. They might not like our bills and vote against them, but they sure aren't voting with Republicans. They're just our most conservative members.

And how would that make you feel? You send a rep to washington to represent you and instead they represent the right wing neo cons agenda for the next 8 years. Voting with Bush/Delay 90% of the time?

No wonder you lost so many seats.

The problem is Dem-bot, that you, especially you, demand complete repudiation of everything not left-wing. If you knew what a compromise was, you would probably find that many on the right here aren't as ideologically committed as the people on the left here. (See the thread on the political ideology quiz). Most of the left-wingers here were WAAAAY to the left and most of right wingers were barely right of center.

Talk about talking points.

I love you fake ass independents. You are so GOP it is sickening. I can smell it. Or, you're like me. I'm not as much pro Dem as I am anti GOP.

The last 8 years were completely in line with the conservative agenda. In fact, last year the GOP said the economy was strong. Hell, McCain was saying that in September 08. Mitt said it Jan 08. Liars, anti American workers, hypocrites, thieves...

And if the Democrats are no better, at least they are for the middle class. They are our thieves. The GOP work for the rich. Are you rich?

Anyways, this thread was meant to point out that you can't distance yourselves from Bush and stay with the GOP. Because all the GOP from 2000-2006 helped Bush get us to this point.

And yes, if you didn't like Jimmy Carter, then you left the party. That's what you do when your leader sucks. You vote for the other guy. Something you guys should have done this time but you are all partisan hacks.

Still waiting to hear you name some good GOP'ers from 2000-2006.

you ever come up with your own thoughts? or do you just borrow the terminology you see on Daily Kos?

I'm trying to make a point. Rather than answer my question and stay on point so i can prove you to be a douch bag, you come back with that silly question?

Waaaa. Sorry you fucking pussy Republican. You aren't controlling the conversation/topic and so you don't like it. i know how you guys are.

Sorry I just PROVED that you are all bush lovers. Or if you are not, then you can not say Bush abandoned the party, because the entire party went along with him. EVEN YOU. Because I argued with stupid cock suckers like you for 8 years. Then all of the sudden you are distancing yourselves?

See, the reason you Republicans get away with it is that we let you get away with it. I'm not the typical liberal push over. I'll call you out. I'm all for piece and love, but I'll fight too. I'll scream louder than you!

And I know I'm right, so I know I'll always win.

You scream alright, just like a 5 year old throwing a tantrum. Ohh and your mental capabilities are about on that level as well. You have no original thoughts cause you are just to ignorant to form them.

Are you trying to say, in your own sweetly insane fashion, that you think GWB is an example of what the Republican ideology is? And if you don't agree with that, then your only choice is to leave the Republican party?

If so, you would be an idiot.

You make me want to go back to the Republican party just so I can be directly in opposition to you.

You are right about one thing, if you were a Democrat and you didn't like Jimmy Carter, it probably meant you had some common sense or an inkling of self-preservation, in either case, it makes you unfit for the Democrat party.

Tell me about your last original thought?

And you dont' respect my opinions anyways. So what good would an original thought do me?

That's why I'm always backing up what I say/think with information from other credible sources.

You would love it if it were just my original thought.

And so it bothers you and now you are attacking me for not being the only one who buys into my own theories?

What a joke you are.

Ok, one last time. I'm saying if you study what happened between 2000-2006 and remember what happened, you can't put all the blame on Bush or the Dems. If you really study the truth about what happened, The GOP had control of all three branches of government and they were in complete collusion with each other during that time. So Bush didn't spend too much, the GOP spent too much. Bush didn't lie us into war and double the debt, the GOP did.

You Republicans know better than anyone that the President doesn't have that much to do with it. Aren't those your words? The President doesn't have that much to do with the economy. He just signs/veto's what congress sends him. Well Bush signed just about everything Delay sent him and Bush veto'ed just about everything Pelosi/Reed have sent him so far.

So I was right. You aren't a GOP but you are far more anti Democratic than you are anti GOP. To me that makes you one step above a schmuck. Congrats.

And when I say you, I mean cock suckers like you. I mean the politicians in Washington who represent you. Or the conservatives that win because idiots like you vote for Bob Barr.
