In the area of guns and other things that are damaging to the well-being, you can't ban them....but you can tax the living shit out of them to prescribe behavior you like and retard behavior you don't. This is why we need to institute the mayhem tax on firearms, bullets, and all associated items.

Use that money to pay for armed guards at schools, armed guards at churches, and armed escorts of school buses.

Or...perhaps, realize that the 2nd Amendment is a dumbass amendment written before zippers and about 100 years before football was invented. Living under such a rule because it is merely old and was written by guys who had some other great ideas is silly.

Sure looks that way. Since President Obama signed the cigarette tax into law during his first term, the numbers of smokers have decreased by 3,000,000 and the resulting boost in revenue has been more than $30,000,000,0000.

Think of it as "self deportation" to use a Romney phrase. You make it so costly to own a gun that those who pine for them simply choose not to purchase them. As a result, fewer are made, fewer filter down to the streets and fewer get used.

Won't happen overnight but it's a win-win.
