don't even realize it.

I agree the TSA thing is way, way over the top. But I think it is also your fault! What I mean is that we pretty much know now that efforts are underway to smuggle bombs aboard our planes and some partisans have backed team Obama into a corner over security.

Once the American people voluntarily and unanimously decree that they prefer being less safe to being less scrutinized Obama will relax the scrutiny having been given full political cover for the inevitable airliner incident of the near future.

He is just waiting for everybody to chime in, on the record, opposing the drill so he can say "I am listening to the concerns of the American people, the GOP members of Congress and parents across the nation".

See how that works?

But it is indeed entertaining to watch the pavlovian stampede of partisans who can't rush fast enough and bark loud enough when their bell rings.

People should read 'Nudge' by Cass Sunstein. Find out exactly how the Government manipulates citizens. When you read posts by the liberals - you can see 'nudging' in action.

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

How exactly is it way over the top? You have three choices: Go through the machine, get a pat down, or refrain from flying.

The collection of "horror" stories are laughable. Several are years old and the rest seem to be a huge stretch of the truth.

No one made a peep about all this for years, therefore y'all look mighty stupid having your hissy fits now.

How exactly are NSA wire taps way over the top? You have three choices: Send an email, make a phone call or write a hand written letter.

You do realize this has been done for generations by the corporations right?

Fail. Wiretaps are looking for evidence of a crime. Security at the airport is looking to keep the public safe...again, no one complained previously until this current meltdown, therefore it is acceptable to society as a whole.

Just like you can be searched before entering a football game or a concert, so too can you be searched flying on a commercial jet.

Now cancel the war on terror and you'll have a point.

Funny thing....here in NY, no one complains about a pat down at Giants stadium.
No one cares about a pat down when going to a Dead concert.

Seems the politicians have us fighting FOR them. Wasnt it supposed to be the other way around?

Exactly!!!!

I guarantee everyone of these idiots, almost to the person, that are defending the "pat downs" were wrything in pain over The Patriot Act. :cuckoo:

I wonder how long its gonna be before they use some poor patsie (i.e. L. H. Aswald) to try to go thru the checkpoint at airport with a bomb and the TSA finds it.... Then they can point to a success. So far all have gotten thru, and thankfully they were all incompititant boobs.

So just to clarify. You view NSA wiretap guidlines under the Patriot Act and the new TSA search guidlines to be "reasonable" searches under the 4th amendment?

You stupid fuck...your approval of the patriot act and the war on terror is why we have these pat downs.

Yes...but they are good a whipping everyone into a drooling frenzy.

You are incorrect.

The new "enhanced" pat downs were never used on the public.

I have never had my nuts grabbed by anyone but my wife, my Dr., and once while I was being searched before spending the night in jail!

Society as a hole has never liked these tactics.... we were OK with it for a while after Sept. 11th 2001, but it has always made normal thinking folks feel as though the terrorists have won. We have had our freedom to travel severly hampered by the gov't & TSA all in the name safety. :doubt:

Plus... you say

"Wiretaps are looking for evidence of a crime. Security at the airport is looking to keep the public safe.."

Safe from what?

Oh, a crime.... unless terrorists are'nt commiting crimes, but acts of war :eusa_shhh:

Just sayin' :eusa_whistle:

Wiretapping is only authorized if there is no other way to catch criminal activity.

Come up with a better way to see if people are carrying bombs on an airplane besides searching them and we'll talk.
