Unbelievable...yet so believable at the same time. Microsoft made having to reset privacy setting each time user started up IE a FEATURE.

In early 2008, Microsoft Corp.'s product planners for the Internet Explorer 8.0 browser intended to give users a simple, effective way to avoid being tracked online. They wanted to design the software to automatically thwart common tracking tools, unless a user deliberately switched to settings affording less privacy.

That triggered heated debate inside Microsoft. As the leading maker of Web browsers, the gateway software to the Internet, Microsoft must balance conflicting interests: helping people surf the Web with its browser to keep their mouse clicks private, and helping advertisers who want to see those clicks.

In the end, the product planners lost a key part of the debate. The winners: executives who argued that giving automatic privacy to consumers would make it tougher for Microsoft to profit from selling online ads. Microsoft built its browser so that users must deliberately turn on privacy settings every time they start up the software.

No surprise. I refuse to use IE.

Microsoft's software and operating system are total garbage designed and marketed to morons.
Mac is nice.
Linux is better yet but you need a brain to use it. That leaves out 90% of the earths inhabitants.

Not a very nice thing to say....and merely your opinion. :eusa_shhh:

That's okay. Every once in a while a moron learns how to use a Linux distro. Unfortunately the distro won't change their behavior, they retain that no matter what.

My experience has taught me that almost anyone can learn Linux. In fact, the ones I actually have the hardest time teaching about Linux are the ones that think they are smarter than 90% of the worlds inhabitants.

Firefox isn't great, although the beta 4 looks decent.

Chrome and Opera are better, imo. Opera is my default at the moment.

Chrome?

It's a more secure browser in the way that it handles sandboxing and tabs. Also looks better. Which is why both Opera and Firefox are on their way to adopting the look and internal functionality of Chrome.

You're post reminds me of that comedian Gallagher. The difference being he was smart and funny.

Just downloaded the Firefox 4 beta 5. Looks a lot like Chrome. So does the new release of Opera. They're all moving to that style (even IE 9 is headed that way). I don't know whether the security is as good as Chrome, though. I read Firefox was going to implement the sandboxing that Chrome has, but do not know if they've done so yet.

At any rate, there's not much reason to use IE. I like Chrome and Opera better than Firefox, but all three are good.
